This thread has indeed been enlightening for me. However this perception is out there, and it is indeed a damning one for a company that is indeed concerned about its image and reputation as a high quality performance developer/producer.Knurled wrote: Summit doesn't give two E36 M3s about what you are using it for, when you buy Allstar sleeves and upper hats and lower perches. Just sayin'. I love how hoity-toity he is about how precision-engineered his whatever is. Isn't Vorschlag one of those companies that make suspensions for cars whose main attraction is that the suspension doesn't move so they look cool in a parking lot? You don't need to be very precision engineered for that, hell you could replace the strut with a 2x4 and it'd work just as well. You couldn't be more wrong, which is typical when being snarky, go check out the track records, trophies, etc and who has Vorshlag products on their cars. It's not some Taiwainese BC hard-parking junk. Try again.
I know that company you're talking about... They used to make some really terrible springs for Celicas, too.
I could have sworn their name WAS Vorschlag.
I remember being surprised a couple years ago when i realized that THIS Vorschlag was legit.
Recalling harder, it may have been something like sponsoring a section of VWVortex, which is park-hard central.
Either way, standing corrected.
(Education: It's a marvelous thing)

They are OK too. Any outfit that will make a custom run of lowering springs for a 30 year old Diesel MB is ok in my book.
Vorshlag: very expensive, very sexy parts.
Brand-not-to-be-mentioned on my BMW: inexpensive, not sexy parts that barely berkeleying work.
Vorshlag appears to be one of those companies that just says "Cost? Meh. Let's just make the best damn parts possible!". Their catalog makes my eyes bleed but if a Mustang ever graces my driveway I know who will be in contention to take my money.
I'm still trying to save enough for mustang parts from vorshlag... It's been three years and I keep having kids instead... lol.
As a guy who gets many letters every day, it does shock me how people will say something in an email, that they would never say to you in person. I think most business owners (at least I do) take letters from customers very seriously. Fortunately most of the letters we get are positive. A good idea is to wait 24 hours before you send something you write when you are very angry. My wife makes me do that and it is for my own good.

THIS^^^^^^
It is rule that I MANDATE to all my employs and has served me well for many years.
FWIW, i probably would have been more likely to say something like that in person, because then it would have been easier to convey the jovial manner in which it was intended.
Kudos to Vorschlag for taking it in stride.
Now if you could just make some damn universal camber plates, that'd be super.
I thought this was going to turn into an epic bimmerforums E36 M3 show dog pile thread when I saw a page three today.
I'm pleasantly surprised.
In reply to Tim Suddard: A lot of people are Bob Costas. It may prevent plenty of fist fights, however.
First, if you have to ask, yes.
Second, if you hesitate - even for a second - before pressing Send, delete it.
You'll grow through it.
Face it, we all have a-holes and sometimes we expose them. Berating the OP wasn't necessary. This was proof that douchebags and a-holes don't fix diarrhea of the mouth.
In reply to Kramer:
I must have missed something- I didn't see a single post that berated the OP. Several that offered feedback on his email, but that was what he asked for. Nobody took shots at the OP.
Although someone DID take shots at Vorshlag- called them hoity toity, and such.
I am a firm believer in letting things run their course- they can usually be worked out. This thread shows that.
I actually emailed them about parts for my 240SX and got a similar reply. I was annoyed but I get it, people are crazy and they have a business to run. Although I'd think people buying semi custom parts would be better at putting things together successfully so there are less horror stories to keep them from doing it.
In reply to SVreX:
Nope, you didn't miss anything. This site, unlike many, is fill of people who know it isn't necessary to berate others. Post this same thing on other sites and see what happens. Good folk here.
In reply to Kramer:
I misunderstood your comment.
When you said "Berating the OP wasn't necessary", it sounded like you were saying "It wasn't necessary for you shiny happy people to berate the OP like you did".
I guess what you really meant was more like "Good job, stuff got fixed without anyone berating the OP".
Things don't always sound in print like the voices in your head do.

No, No they don't.
I found OP's email hilarious. Unwarranted, as the thread revealed, but certainly not over-the-top. As stated, it wasn't a "F U!" email, but an "I wanted to write an F U! email but now I'm just sad".
The end had me literally lol.
Interesting the difference in response to this thread versus my mentioning of what I view as a similar complaint in the minor-rant thread.
