watched the new The Grand Tour last night

Yup ep6 is one of my favorites these guys have ever done. Good reviews, great fun in the studio, and an excellent history piece by May. Even the celebrity bit was funny for once. Good stuff!

Episode 6 raised the bar. Loved the history pieces.

Episode 6 was great. Good cars, good cinematography, and tons of laughs. It also has what is quite possibly the best-placed televised penis joke of the last five years.

Just watched #6. Remove the celebrity brain thing (it was barely funny once) & used the mute button during the Redneck, it was the best yet.

Yep, episode 6 is the BEST one yet. Hope they do another episode similar to it with emphasis on the historical history in some way with cars.

Episode 6 was the best yet... but the preview with the buggies looks epic. Could be biased though, since we're working on a manx style buggy

I came here to say this. Cars of the People is really good. Interesting, clever and well paced.

So I'm sitting here watching episode 4 of Grand Tour Nation. They've lost the magic. As much as I hate to say it, this show is lame. It's so obviously scripted, and painfully so. While Top Gear was car-heavy with a good dose of whit and humor, this one tries to be funny while the stupid punchlines just happen to have wheels.
The ONLY thing this has on the horrible Top Gear USA is the fact that these three hosts have chemistry.
The American is stupid, the celebrities dying wasn't funny the first time, but now it's just stupid, Jeremy has actually grown dumber and leas funny.
I don't know if I can watch ep 5.

This is a TV show. Generally things are scripted.

I know I'm a bit behind. After episode 2 it took a while before I could even attempt another episode. That was terribly. I know it's a TV show, and I know TG was scripted, but it didn't feel like it was, at least not very much. This is really, really bad in that respect. And in typical Clarkson fashion, he's heard complaints about the shows content and doesn't care. Hmmm, he was reprimanded by the BBC for his behavior and didn't care. We see where that got him.
Unless there's significant changes, I don't see there being a GTN season 3. It will do season two simply on momentum and star power, but it's just not very good (from what I've seen thus far).

Ahhh. I think what you really mean is it feels forced. I would agree with that. The whole stick with May being stoned because where they are it is legal I thought was dumb. It made May look dumb. Things get MUCH better in the next episode.

Yes, forced is. Good word. It goes beyond that though. The content is really weak. I'm shocked it's this bad. I thought the three of them could televise paint drying and I'd enjoy watching it, but dang, they're failing at a car show.
I'll give the next episode or two a try, but my expectations are pretty low. Maube they can hite Chris Harris haha.

Wow. Just watched ep 7, part 1 of the Namibia adventure. I was really having a hard time with the early episodes, but that one was awesome. They finally seemed to relax and act like three guys on a road trip instead of playing awkward, tired characters. If anyone has stopped watching it I'd suggest giving that episode a try. I just hope it continues in that vein in the future.

And now I have serious want for a buggy like Hamster's. Oof.

In ep6, I found humour in the drive past the Cenotaph, "slow down, show some respect" as a jab at the new Top Gear's Ken Block donuts around the Cenotaph. Well played.

Some of these shows you really have to give them a chance to work together for awhile. By the end of the run, the three USA guys really worked well together. While they were initially thrown together and told to act like friends, they eventually did become (and still are) friends. In many ways, it became better than the later TGUK episodes because the scripts were written to play to each of their strengths. I've heard rumors they may be working on something for 2017 and I'm hopeful it happens.

Some of Clarkson's shows are also well worth a look, particularly the documentaries he's done on WWII subjects.

This was an absolutely fantastic 2nd part. Beautiful camera work, pranks, boobs, fire, it had literally everything. These big challenge specials are where they really shine on their own. I'd kind of hoped being the Grand Tour, every episode would be more like these specials.

You're right. The three of them (and BBC in general) have some stellar shows. I've yet to see one that I didn't like Hammond even did a show aimed at kids, I watched it with my kids and liked it.
