Watkins Glen in Review

Due to various life events we are only running 1 Chump race this year and we chose Watkins Glen.

It was our first time there and I cant say enough good things about the track and facility. It was by far the most fun we have had so far racing crap cans. The esses and chicanes were my favorite parts.

We were using a new tire. The BFG Rivals are available at a discount through a Chump sponsor so we gave them a shot. Much better than the Kumhos we were previously using (and my wife hated).

Once again my wife ran circles around the rest of us and not only ripped off the fastest lap but was much more consistent than I was.

We ended Day one in 37th and Day 2 in 34th. There were 97 starters on Saturday and 88 on Sunday.

I want to give extra thanks to BlueGreen44 for coming out with his brother and crewing. I think they spent half the weekend running back and forth to the trailer when we were in the pits and to the pits when we were at the trailer. He also was attacked by a deer on his way home.

At the end of day 2, somebody hit the back of the car sending it into a wall. It wasnt much damage. I will fix it with a hammer.

Looks like a bast, though. I'm hoping to run the Glen with Chumpcar next season. Trying to get the car sorted for COTA this year, so probably a one-race season for me too.

Did you encounter an old dark silver E30 325is on TR Motorsports wheels up there? A guy that I autocross with also races said E30 at the Chump events at the Glenn, Lime Rock and Calabogie. Very nice guy and a very fast driver.

Im guessing the Spork car didnt check mirrors before coming over but Im not sure. The Mustard car sat in the garage the rest of the day and the Spork car came back out a few laps later.
