The little town I live in is mainly full of boring econo boxes and pick up trucks. About the most exotic thing you'll see around here is the odd Corvette or maybe an M3.
I just went to pick the boy up from my wife's work and going through the backside of my neighborhood I passed a red with white stripes Viper GTS. About a mile down the road I passed a red with white stripes Ford GT. And on the way back home I turned into our neighborhood behind an silver 996 Porsche Turbo.
That made my day.

No don't think so. They weren't stickered up or anything. It was spitting rain too. Just odd to see them all out.

Strange but cool. To think I was a bit excited the other day when I saw my first Fiata.
I spotted an old Dodge Shadow the other day. Yes, it was running, and all the paint was missing off of the hood, roof, and hatch

That's every one I've ever seen.
I saw a 100% stock manual 240sx last week.

Okay, now you're just lying.
I saw a mint aw11 MR2 driven by a little old lady. And I mean mint.
I saw a 90s NSX on Saturday. Still love the look.

Get back to us when you see a 240Z with stock hubcaps - first thing everyone that bought one did was toss the wheels and caps and stick alloys on the,

Yeah, you saw a 100% stock, 5 speed 240SX, and then those flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz shot out of your ass.
To the OP, sounds like you got caught in an episode of Top Gear.

Saw a new Audi R8 this morning, since the closest Audi dealer is 200 miles away I think it counts. There was actually a not much molested 240 on CL last week. Still had the stock alloys! EDIT: The CL ad is still up https://tallahassee.craigslist.org/cto/6111419096.html
Guess that's two unicorns..

Sounds like my typical morning trip to drop the kiddo off at middle school. Tragically, living in a flush area like Sarasota tends to make you a bit calloused to such sightings.
That said, I flip out when I spot things like an mint '89 MR2 being driven by an old lady, or the super clean FD RX7 in the Publix parking lot driven by some old guy, or a 100% original, unrestored, 40k mile 1981 Chevy Citation X11 driven by the original old lady owner (I stopped at the 7-11 just to check out the car and talked to her for a bit).

I passed a GT-R on our no-stop-light Main Street this afternoon and I doubt it was local. The wealthiest enthusiasts in this little map point have a penchant for American muscle although my neighbor's mom was driving a Ferrari California last summer; it's too cold to have seen it this season, though.
Maybe the GT-R was just passing through or maybe it was coming from Sam Strano's shop which is about 20 miles south.
There is/was an Audi TT vert in town but I haven't seen it for a while. There are also a couple of Z3's in town including the one my sister brought home a couple of weeks ago; one with a manual, no less. I taught her to drive in a 4spd Pinto, she didn't fry and got to enjoy my Dad's hand-me-down X1/9.
It's nice to know that she still appreciates the finer aspects of driving the right way.

Flash gentrification? Maybe you're in a hipster town before it was cool?

Not fancy or rare cars, but this morning on a regular stretch of my commute, I came across no fewer than four identical 2015-ish Malibus, all in that platinum off-gold color, driving along like a row of ducks. They all entered the road at different points, and left at different points, so it wasn't a fleet thing, it was just coincidence.

I had a Viper convertible tailgating me at 75 mph on the way to work yesterday.
I moved over when there was a break in traffic and he roared past to tail gate the guy in front of me.
I commute to work in Daytona Beach. Directly across from the Speedway. See a lot of rare and interesting cars.
Leaving work last night, I complimented the owner of a clean and totally original 78 Buick Regal. Not a turbo, just basic well kept coupe, right down to the wire wheel hubcaps.
I guess I'm weird.
The town I work in is the same way, Boring daily drivers... this past weekend a bright orange Viper ACR with the giant wing on the pack goes ripping through that 2 red light town. Smile engaged
