ohhhh S60R sounds nice!

If this is a "Coupe":
Then this can be a Sedan:
The big problem with this is the "true manual". All of the good Audi's (Quattro) use the flappy-paddle gearbox. All of the good stick shift cars (CTS-V) use RWD. So you are either stuck in something older (V70R), a coupe (911), or the penalty box econo-cars (WRX/EVO).
The charger/300 has AWD but only with the 8 speed and no srt option. You can get the Jeep SRT8 with a 470 hp hemi, but only the 8 speed manumatic also.
The cleanest 2.7T Audi S4 plus some tuning. 500hp isn't too hard to achieve.
Why AWD? Otherwise, a late M5 would be a shoe-in, or a CTS-V.
I second the 335xi idea. Proof: http://www.edmunds.com/car-videos/dyno-tests/vishnu-performance-2007-bmw-335i-dyno-test-video.html

Pretty much my point.......thank you. I laughed that when I watched that it had a MB C class ad in front of it.....

I love the V70 idea, but did they ever do the XC70 with a manual trans? And if you have 100 large to play with, then do this
But seriously I don't see anything beating my original suggestion of an RS4, all though I do like the idea of manning up and getting the Bentley with 2 pedals
STI? Would take a bit of an investment to hit 500 reliably, but doable.
Recommend snow tires for winter.
G35X
I think the manual was available in the latter years of the 35, but is not available with the 37...
Sti fits the description, but I can't imagine a rich guy stepping out of an AMG Mrec settling for one.

My thought exactly. Even more of a stretch to see him in an EVO.

From what I can find, the US got the 07-08 RS4 only, (so 5-6 years old already if you ignore the 2014 models already out) and was a production run of less than 2500 units for us. It's probably the "perfect" car for the OP's buddy, but man, good luck finding one.

I just checked Autotrader for RS4's with Manual trans, it shows 73 Nationaly with prices from $26-50k, average in the low 40's

I wouldn't waste my time with off the rack....
In this case... have something built........ begin with a car he wants/likes, and then get it customized....
I mentioned the EVO and WRX and he asked me if I would paint it lime green with a big wing. Okay, EVO and WRX are out.
He is thinking about the 335xi.
Thanks guys!

Wow, that is a significant portion of the total for sale! I wonder if that's a portent?
335xi, as others have said.
You could do a G35x too.
I thought for an oddball, maybe a Silverado SS or Trailblazer SS with a manual swap.
Isn't the V70 AWD system really weak?
For some reason an old Audi five cylinder turbo car seems like a good project if you have yards of cash to spend.
Isn't there a 535xi as well? Was that available with a manual?
The RS4 is probably the closest car in stock form, but it's "only" 420-ish hp. I'm not sure what you do to get to the stated 500 hp minimum -- there's not a lot of bolt-on engine aftermarket for these cars. With sufficient cubic dollars I'm sure you could wedge a couple of turbos in there...
