it does suck. With the stock converter, I was unable to build more than 2psi boost. Roll out for what felt like MINUTES and then wham, 18psi.

The problem is easily solved by sending $700 and a core torque converter to IPT. Then you can get full boost right away. or basically ANY time you want it. You never fall under the boost curve.
Great thread here.
I just did my first rallycross this past Sunday in my 95 Camry and had an absolute blast! So much so it is all I'm thinking about. I even have another track day coming up in 2 weeks in my e30 but all I can think about is the rallycross next month. Haha.
There were some early SE-Rs and a G20 that were quick in FS but the fastest car/driver by far was an older guy in a 2002 Chevy Impala with snow tires on the front. The guy was ridiculously fast.

Maybe a Saturn?
They do ok... small weight and horsepower advantage over the Escort, but I don't think it would be a big upgrade. Then again, as I posted earlier... I don't see where having that much more power would help. My heavy wagon with an auto was still traction challenged 99% of the time. The good part about a Saturn is they are crazy cheap and you will trip over a gazillion of them in any junkyard you go to. Gobs of suspension travel too.
For FWD I'd probably be hunting down early Civic/CRXs for cheap aftermarket, light weight, low overhangs.
Nobody has suggested a Mini S yet?
