I'm trying to decide what the next rig should be. It needs to be rust resistant enough to drive year round in mass. I started shopping gx470s and soon was looking at gx460s because for the money most 470s seem to have big mileage on em (though I've been maintaining one at work that has almost 300k on it and its minty despite dizzy girl ownership and many winters). I thought about an is-f, or even an r32 gtr (but those seem to have rust issues and parts availability probably sucks).
What sayeth the hive mind?
My 99 Land Cruiser has 425k on it. That is all. That drive train is solid.
Land Cruiser, 20k will get you an 06 or 07 with around 150 spins, 30k is coming into LC200 territory.

Lx470/ fzj100 (or whatever) lc are definitely on my radar. I'm stoked to hear that kind of mileage without drama.
Anything I'm not thinking of? I wouldn't mind something sporty or even luxo bardge like an ls460l or somethin. Open to anything in that price range. Euro stuff scares the E36 M3 outa me though.
I mean that price range you can get Chevy SS's and CTV-1's The IS-F 1st gens are in that range. Any of the big body 1j/2j powered imported sedans too. Japanese Classics has a JZX90 with a full JZX100 conversion for like $22k.

We’ve had our gx460 for 4 months I think and it’s incredible.
My wife’s daily driver since January has been a 2011 GX460 that we got with 65k miles. She loves it and I do too. It is a fantastic machine.
My only gripe is that it is heavy, and because of the breaking distance seems longer to me. It means I don’t tailgate, but it is something I noticed.
However, comfort and feature wise it is great, and it can tie all I need it to tow. 3rd row seats are “occasional” seats. As in the very rear passengers have a spot to sit and a buckle to use, but not a lot of room.

The one thing I’ve noticed with ours is that you really have to push the brake pedal a ways or it will “creep” at a red light. Not a big deal, but annoying. I did have to lock it up on the test drive as a car was stopped in the middle of the interstate and the car in front of me swerved to reveal them. The gx handled the stomp and lane change amazingly, it’s one of the things that sold me. The odyssey wouldn’t have avoided that car.
What tires do you have? Carmax our “Ironman” tires on ours and I hate them, too loud. I won’t replace them because they’re new, but I can’t wait to put some good rubber on this thing.
Instead of an ls460l what about an ls600lh? I've seen them in this price range and that's an almost $100k discount. Ridiculous over the top back seat luxury - do you ever have passengers in the rear you want to impress or pamper? Front seat's nice too of course.
G Wagon
Apparently they depreciate slower than anything.

Have you? I've been keeping a casual eye out on autotrader and craigslist for RWD Lexus Hybrids and I don't recall seeing anything other than the GS for less than $50k--but it isn't an in depth search and it isn't a large area that I'm searching.

I switched from the cheap no name tires to the Michelin Defender LTX MS. Expensive tires, but I caught a sale and got all 4 from Discount for under $800. And I'd have to look but I'm pretty sure I went up a size over the stock tires, which seem to make the GX look better. It was a night and day difference between the old cheap tires and the Michelins. Road noise, handling, wet weather traction, etc. All much better than before. The only thing we haven't tested it yet is snow/slush/ice, but we haven't had a winter with the GX, but it is right around the corner.
I also found that Powerstop has a brake kit for the GX that I'm thinking about trying. I was wondering if the pads and rotors were just cheapo replacements like the tires so it could be advertised as "new tires, new brakes" etc.

Interesting feedback on lx/gx lexus.
Was looking a r32/33 gtrs, I don't think I could pay that money for an early 90s nissan, cool though. What are some other out of the box ideas?
I wish a nice supra was 25-30 still, I miss my mkiv.
