Since I'm flush with BLA (tm), I'm thinking about building one of these:

In reply to CGLockRacer:
Yeah, that's what I was thinking, or some other more readily available chassis.
That is fantastic. If one would could scale a Locost style frame under there it would be a great performer too. Price is decent but shipping would be killer.

Free if you stuffed a container with a half dozen then sold 5 off at a $1000 markup. ;-)
The Spitfire chassis isn't exactly the same - it needs to bodywork to help support it unlike the Herald.
werent we just talking about a kit car that could make it out in the real world, along the lines of F5 cars or Cobra kits? I think this is it if you can get it to fit on top of a Miata or S2k...

Hehe, I know a guy who has 4 of 'em... There were 2 of them on C/L for $1000 a couple weeks ago in C-Springs. I bought one two years ago in Nebraska for $150, from C/L. It even came with a brand new top and a donor motor for my MKI Spitfire.

I didn't think of that... I dunno yet. I did email the guy about shipping one kit to the Port of Toledo (Ohio).
Heralds aren't to hard too hard find in the US, but then again Heralds are a dime a dozen in the UK, so the kit makes sense. Couple that with the compatibility with Spitfires, I can see the potential.
To hell with the herald donor- they sell the shells for 895 (~$1500). I would think a modified locost frame could fit under that, just wondering what the vertical clearance is for DOHC engines.
Only slightly related, but...
In the website for these I pulled off this picture.
Would a Chevy S-10 be a common sight in the UK? I figured they were not sold there but rather more common would be diesel Asian models?
