I learned lots today.
I don't want to ever pull the dash out of a 95 Subaru Legacy again. (Let me know if you need one, the dash that is or any other interior bits)
I learned that the dash, with wire harness, pass air bag, no cluster, no radio, no heater controls weighs 32-33 lbs.
I also learned, that when buying a car from 70's hippies that smoke cigarettes, that they most likely spent a lot of time in the car smoking more than just cigarettes, and to expect everything under the dash to be covered with resin. My hands are as dirty as when I was unbolting everything from the engine...
It was a good day.

I learned that Vancomycin has poor CSF penetration.
I learned that my front subframe wasn't just cracked in one spot, it was about to fall apart and was damaged all over one side.
Yay!

I learned that if I don't have any income for 2 months or more. I will happily work a job I can't stand. So I'll fly to Los Angeles in the morning.
Anyone in or near Santa Monica? I'll somting fun to do after work.
I learned my oldest son is ending lease on the FRS and leasing a 2016 A4 with sport package. Never did listen to my advice
I learned that instead of giving away Christmas presents you bought to low income families, it is far better in many ways to set up a "store" and let the parents shop for exactly what they want there kids to have, and pay 20% or so.
I learned that after chasing a reported battery drain in a car that the customer tells you the battery is new. Do a load test on the battery anyway. And after that I noted that the battery was dated 8/07. Ya that is a new battery. Customer was pissed at the place that supposedly sold them the battery. They left not purchasing a battery and bitching about the half hour labor I charged them. And mad at me for some reason.
I learned people suck.

Welcome to my world, the car business, Dean!
I learned that even if you fill a gas tank with water before welding on it, it can still go boom.
I also learned that the boom will cause roughly half the tank of water to shoot out the 4.5 inch hole to a rough height of five feet.
Lastly i learned that God loves fools.
I learned that getting all excited to take the daughter along with Mrs and grandpa to Texas Roadhouse for her 13th birthday that the place is a chain and that the food in my opinion is lame but it is always important to keep a happy face to not bum out birthday girl because that $20 steak was a huge purchase in her eyes.

Guessing that makes a bad day for somebody .
I learned that one should wear a face shield while blowing out the lines in his parts washer, even with 'only' 20psi. I had almost the same thing happen at work the other day, only with blood.
As a corollary, I learned that I have a pretty quick blink reflex, with or without a face shield.
I also re-learned that I hate hate HATE pine trees.
I learned that a ranger v6 does not fit in a miata without out some cutting.
Homes suck. $2200 later plumbing is repaired.
Belt replacement on the Suburban is stupid easy. When they dumped the mechanical fan and clutch was a godsend.

I learned that the residual pressure after relieving the pressure in a fuel line is enough to give you a gasoline wash to the face and chest even if you don't really want that to happen. As a corollary under that condition you will be so glad you remembered to wear safety glasses.

I learned that after I replaced the battery in the miata in August that I have not driven it enough to be able to get the car inspected. Needs some miles on it to make the computer happy enough to pass the OBD scanner.
i learned once again that some people shouldnt be allowed to own tools. working on power windows still sucks, 8 self tappers through the door panel because your boyfriend lost the 2 original bolts.

LOL. Did you look in the bottom of the door?
I learned I have voles in the yard.
What I need to learn is how to kill them.
In reply to spitfire bill:
Mouse traps w/peanut butter.
I learned that grilling bone-in chicken to absolute perfection is, like nailing an apex at max G, a perishable skill that requires regular practice...

I learned (re-learned?) fixing something that doesn't work correctly is often stupid-easy. To the point I wonder how/why is was left non-functional in the first place...

Indeed. Replacing the alt belt on an E30 with A/C and P/S will make you appreciate modern serpentine belts and electric fans.
Bummer about the plumbing... what cost $2200? I could replace just about every pipe in my house (DIY) for that amount.
