sissynet translates to www.cicenet.net

Cental Illinois Car Enthousiests.

cice when pronouced with soft C's sounds like sissy....

It has it fair share of douchebags, but for some reason I still post there. Other's will argue that I myself am a duchebage. The jury s still out on that one.

Back on topic: I like sleeper cars

I did list the GTV6 on CL. Unless you send me something under an assumed name, I didn't get anything.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting much interest on the Alfa here, but I really hadn't expected that there would be absolutely none at all. Well, actually I did get a "will you take 1000?", a "I have a 924 for trade" and "How about a rusty Ford Aerostar?" :)

Anyway, the douchebaggery is part of what has turned me off to the big sports cars. I mean, I didn't think I looked like a tool when I drove my yellow 996 with yellow seat belts, but now whenever I see a dude driving a late 911 he's always doing the midwest slouch with one hand on the wheel, a bluetooth earpiece with a bright bright light so you know he has it, and a latte. I don't want to be that guy.

I'd rather be the guy in my Crown Vic with the cop air conditioning and crappy paint slipping through traffic til I can get to the couple of scenic roads on the way to work.

I saw a post on Jalopnik or Autoblog or one of those about the most beautiful Japanese car, and really I didn't like any of them! There just aren't many new cars that appeal to me anymore, Japanese or otherwise.

Really, what gets me excited is the Saab SPG I saw this morning with the cracked windshield and the clearcoat peeling off. I saw a Viper today, bright red and top down, that I turned my head to look at, but a couple blocks up I saw an Escort GT on Kosei K1s (white, of course) with a good sounding non-fartcan exhaust on it and I would have preferred it to the Viper.

It's not just the big cars that I like. I like cars with personality and character. Maybe something you just don't see that often anymore. Z28? Cool, sure, but a Ford EXP? Awesome! I mean, sure that GT500 is pretty expensive and shiney, but the well-worn Mustang II with the 302 and a good paint to rust ratio in the patina... That's the guy I'd rather talk to.

I did my best to keep something from each stage of my car addiction. So now I gave a large collection of parts for cars I will never own again, a yard full of cars (mostly mobile) and a wandering eye looking for the next addition to the fleet. A big wagon should be getting cheap by now....
