It appears to be from the advance design chevy era, but it's not the 1/2, 3/4 or full ton... unless it's been severely chopped up. WHAT IS IT?
Early 50s Chevy COE cab mounted on a more modern pickup chassis would be my guess. Just Google "1954 Chevy COE" and a bunch of images will come up.
Might be clipped with a nova/camaro/volare subframe CabOverEngine pickup. Very much like the old Roadway snubnose Fords.
How the heck does one go about finding one as a restoration project? I want one for a summer rat rod
All the ones online are $3500+ in project condition (quick look)
ditchdigger: drooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
COE's are my major weakness.
This one is already started http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/2788421998.html
Remember that any bed will have to be custom. They never left the factory with these cool shorty beds on them. the frames are LOOOONG
They mostly looked like this
Ok I know I am a bit ahead of the game but.....
Dear Santa, Even though I am 50 and this must be a bit akward, please bring me this truck.
I promise I will be mostly good this year.
i don't get the love affair some people have with these things.
but Different Strokes and what not..
Are the frames exotic in any way to handle the COE cab? Or can this be slapped on just about any frame (typical frame swap rules applying of course)

They are forward control so your easiest starting point would be with a van of some type. However most of the really low and short ones that were around in the early 90's were based on MonteCarlo frames
I'm pretty much imagining the above truck with the simplest efi 5.3 vortec setup and 4 speed with a column shifter. I'd like the frame to be able to tow a decent amount though. 5000 lbs or so
The Chevy COE with the stock pickup bed looks like they were made for each other.
I need another project like I need a hole in my head.
