We were going to build a feather light modified car for road course racing using a 4age and a T50.

These look very similar (if not smaller)

  1. What are those? (class / car name / chassis type)

  2. Can the chasis be squared up to go left and right?

There should be some similar classes near you.

I spoke to a guy yesterday who had a chassis for sale, $500, but I think you'd be better off buying a roller. There should be no shortage of this stuff for sale south of the border. There are a good number of open wheel 4 cyl. classes around. I was surprised.

Toyman? You see this? You read that price?

If it were 10 years earlier, I'd be thinking more about the 2.2 Chryslers. I heard about a race ready, competitive car last night. 2.3 (I'm assuming) hyd. motor. Although I have little interest in the 2.3, that's a pretty attractive option, at 1700 lbs. The guy wants $4k for it, ready to race, and that's with a quick change rear end. I'll have a look this week. This is the class

I'da thunk a 2.2 Chrysler would work well. Light, cheap, decent repairs available, and not everyone would be using one. I'd bet most of them are running the Pinto/Ranger Ford as done by Esslinger. That would be either the Pinto 2.0, Ranger 2.0 or 2.3.

Like you said though: lots of choices when you start thinking out of the box.

What no good is toyman up to?

This is in their FS section Complete car ready to race. New Z tec motor and new tires. All you hve to do is drive. $5000 for car only or $5500 with trailer

I think that's about the going price.

There's also this Florida based club http://www.outlawmodified.com/

I don't have that problem (as I look out the window at 4 Swifts, a Z24, 2 Sidekicks, and a Cobalt).

A few years ago, somebody noticed something missing in the rules, and showed up with a rotary. Once he got it working right, nobody could touch him. Of course, they're banned now.

I would suggest the KA24E but it has 3 valves/cylinder. They make 120-130whp stock in good shape and between 110-150whp with typical bolt ons no tune. most people just go with the dohc engine at that point but i don't think 180whp isnt out of the question with a good tune. It would also make awesome torque every where.

But it has too many of them there valves. Bummer.
