I am trying to find a used SUV for swmbo to daily, it's a replacement for the TSX wagon. So I am looking for something around $18k-$24k and somewhere around 60k miles. I have seen a lot of Q5's in the price range anywhere between 2012-2014's and a mix of engine options. My parents have a 3.2 and they have a ton of miles on it.
Personally I prefer BMW but I don't know much about their SUV line up so I am wondering whats the good move here.
Any suggestions or first hand experience?
I've got a coworker with a 2011 X5D (at least I think that was the year-- last year for the first diesel model) and he can't get it away from his wife. She loves that vehicle.
It has needed some minor repairs and recall work, and he's getting prepped to do the maintenance tasks required for a direct injection engine at the mileage he's hitting. From a replacement of a failing air valve (basically a shut down throttle) he knows that there's a fair bit of recirculated goo in the intake system, so he's looking at getting that cleaned and blasting the intake valves.
