I have a grown up decision to make and I not good with those.

I have a very clean S197. The car works awesome, has a watts link, big 285's and tokico spec d's. It's fast and fun with 4.10's.

I also just bought a 89 964. Which I also love for different reasons. The 964 is precise compared to the s197 and just has a feel to it. One is the Town slut you love to hammer on and have a great time with, she doesnt care what you do and is a cheap date. The other is all class.

I told myself I'd get rid of the s197 when I got the 964 , but after a first drive on Sunday in the s197 she truly is the life of the party, and for what it costs, I don't know if I want to part with her. My wife could care less either way. At 35 am nuts?

In 2 cars I have less money then my wife's jammed up 2013 cooper S

Keep them both. I just bought my 964 and am keeping my Mazda2. I can drive the 2 like it's a rental and rallycross it with reckless abandon and not feel the least bit bad. The 964 is more of a refined go fast perpetual project. They both have their place. It doesn't hurt that my wife took the Porsche to work today and said that I'll have to buy another one for me because she has claimed this one as hers. I'm only two years older than you. Keeping both of them makes perfect sense.

Secret: If the S197 is a slut, the 964 is a professional lady of the evening. It looks like sex, and its a sure thing. It takes it all and gives back more. It will even let you steer with the pedals if you prove you know what you are doing. It can hurt you ... but when it's right it it will make you think it loves you back. It pulls like a tractor coming out of corners and all the way to 7k, grunting and making sex noises and it can slow things down fast then start all over again. Then it sticks it's dirty whore hands in your wallet and waits for you to call it again.

I just sold one. Do not recommend. Keep the 964.

The problem isn't the 2 cars, it's the other 5 I have Corvair, North Star fiero , truck, inserts and a old deville. It's not financial, it's more of a responsibility thing. I feel like a glutton.

OK, there is a point where you simply can't drive your cars as much as they need to be driven. That makes sense. What you need to do is recruit your wife to drive some of them. Institute a household rule that says no one may drive the same car two days in a row. Additionally, you may be reaching the point in your life where you can have a garage full of actually nice cars instead of odd interesting junk. That's not really a bad thing.

I'll start by stating that I know nothing of your emotional attachment to the other cars.

That said, the 964 easily replaces the corvair as a rear engine air cooled car. Financially, the corvair is most likely at or past its peak value, while the C4 should be just past its low point.

I know nothing about Fieros so I can't comment on their value or what they are fun for. Trucks are trucks and if you hang out here and have that many cars you need a truck.

Also, like Mazdeuce said: having the wife share in the driving helps to justify such a collection and/or add to it!

Funny I have a 76 911 with a 3.2 motor as my "old classic", a Jeep TJ Wrangler as my DD, and Mustang is on my current short list as my autocross/rallycross/hooligan car. Albeit I'm looking at older than S197s, its still funny.

O and I say keep both and sell off some of the others.

If you've got the room and it's not hurting you financially or relationship..ally, then don't worry about making a decision right now. Nothing wrong with taking the appropriate amount of time to come to a decision that you know you'll be happy with.

Pay attention to which cars you're driving and which you really aren't. Eventually one or more may start to stand out as cars you just don't love anymore, don't need, and would do you better as cash. At that point, then sell them.

Me in your shoes, I'd put a for-sale sign on the deville, the fiero, and maybe the truck (depending on how much you actually use it). See what you get a reasonable offer on first.

The fiero was my first car... gotta keep it.. it's got 41,000 miles on it. The Deville was my grandfathers.. The mustang I have pretty much decided that if no one will pay me what I want for the car (14K) then Ill keep it. I am not going to give it away for the sake of a few bucks.. Id rather build another garage....which makes no sense.. We have no kids currently so there's no rush to liquidate anything... The truck has been just about the most useful vehicle I have ever owned.

I will be a sad panda if you sell the Mustang. Seriously, keep it. These cars are pretty reliable and easy to work on.

Damn, I'd have a hard time getting rid of any of those too. If it isn't hurting anything, I wouldn't let consumer consumption guilt get to you.

edit - if docwyte has dibs on the 964, then I'll take the Corvair if you're offering.

That Corvair reeks of awesome. 14k would be a very fair price for the Mustang, as far as I can figure.

Nah, Coyote sounds way better.

I'm fighting the urge to do an intake/tune/cat-back on mine. But that's $1500 I could spend on taking the Miata to the track, so it continues to not happen.
