Dude I think my auto/V6 car weighed 3100 or so from the factory. A bit more with the V8 we swapped in, but heavy? It's like 1000 lb lighter than the current Camaro.

Early P71's are 1000Lbs lighter than the new Camaro!

Quest vs. 944? Both. And a DeLorean.

Keep the Formula too. That's definitely what I'd do.

Oh wait, I'm not Jesus, sorry. I forget sometimes.

Based on 8 seconds of internet searching, 944s range from 2800-3200 lbs and the widebody conquests are in the 3200 lb range as well, so the weight is a wash. 3000 lbs isn't that heavy... not for this type of car from this era obviously.

Weight savings is free and easy. Last time on the scales my Formula was just a touch over 2950 and I've yet to remove the sound deadening. The starquests however trim down like a bullemic chic at Jenny Craig. Those recaro's are 65lbs a piece. The worthless abs and AC in them have to be another 150lb's conservatively.

Make mine a Starquest with an LS engine please. And since I'm dreaming make it a white widebody like the new one that Nikki (painfully attractive redhead) drove when I was just an impressionable young man. It can sound like a top fueler too...

So I pulled the bird out of storage to get a look at how it's been sleeping only to notice it got up on the wrong side of the garage! Rust has invaded every panel! I knew it was getting some, but it's going to need more work than it's worth to repaint and get it back to it's 5 years ago condition. Even the strut towers up front have serious deep rust that wasn't there when I parked it away. Guess the PO's prep work on the last repaint is to blame. Car is a total loss :(.

that totally sucks....

i'd stiff find a third gen something, with a manual trans, as a new starting point and swap in the goodies you have!

Sounds like you need 2nd-gen RX7 to receive that L98/700R4.

Don't try to take an non-turbo 944 and add a turbo. You will waste alot of time and money. Far better to just get a 944 Turbo straight away. They do cost more money in similar condition, but have 50% more hp, massive brakes, and a stiffer suspension. Both have a similear sweet balance, but with the non turbo car it is all about chassis since there is not much power. With a turbo the boost tends to overshadow the chassis.

I race 944 non turbo and have a 944 Turbo Street car. I have had both cars for over 10 year and chose not to race or mod the Turbo for the track due to extra cost. The lower hp 944 however is an idea track beast and with modifications faster can turn a faster lap that stock Turbo with 100 more hp. However the 944 is not a driver as with no interior, no a/c and very stiff track suspension it just not comfortable. My 944 Turbo has 145k miles on it and can be daily driver in 110F summer heat or be tossed around the back roads with ease.

Since Jesus saves, I'd say he'd go with what you've got already ;)
