I'm currently watching an auction On a 2011 Caprice. 106,000 miles. Southern car so rust should be minimal . Looks like standard police use. I know there is a bit of scarcity of parts as these were never sold to the public, and are basically Holden Commodores. And Holden is dead.
But...right now its sitting at $3,800.

A coworker has one, they seem like a pretty killer deal. Other than the usual cop car stuff (does it have real back seats? How many hours?), I've learned that there are LOT of year on year changes that can make them easier/harder to own. I'd check that out.

Is it really a V8? Most were 3.6L V6

With used car prices what they are and the relative obscurity of that, 5k doesn't seem too unreasonable to me.
Similar at $10k but deduct some for graphics removal and two tone. Further deduct for some refurbishing that might be needed and then leave room for profit. Could be a fun toy for $5k. I've seen a few at the drag strip.
IIRC you can't legally drive a black and white in CA. Nothing some vinyl won't fix :)
I don't think there were V6 PPVs.

What I read says no V6 for first year but then all years after, the V6 was standard.
V6 sample and reconfirmed via ad's Carfax

I haven't watched the market for these in a couple of years, but $10k for something like that would've been cheap back then. $5k seems like a hell of a deal if it were possible.
I think most of the parts scarcity is exterior stuff. It's not great, but at least you can keep one running with Camaro/CTS/G8 stuff
In reply to John Welsh :
I must just be aware of the V8s because they're the interesting ones :)
My coworker's car is a black and white, all paint. There are belt buckle scratches all over the fenders and hood and not from the officers...
In reply to Appleseed :
Does it have a real back seat? Or is it like the back seat in the V6 listing?

Real back seat. Looks like no spots installed either .

The black...is a wrap.
That surprises me that it's a wrap. Im pretty sure this was offered as B/W from the factory. It was after all, only sold as a cop car.
is that backseat perpetrator thing just installed over top of a standard backseat? because that doesn't look nice enough to be an actual GM part.
also, i think Pontiac G8 interior would be direct swap, yes?
In reply to AngryCorvair (Forum Supporter) :
The goal of the plastic rear seat (other than easy clean up of fluids) is to provide more leg room by eliminating the thickness of the padding of the seat back and cushion. Same thing is popular for all makes of cop car.
The plastic sits right atop the sheet metal.
Some are even designed to accommodate your new found "seating position"

In reply to John Welsh :
Which is funny because the PPV was already a stretched Commodore with more rear seat room than the Charger/Taurus.
School pick up line at my daughter's school is just a huge sea of SUVs in mostly black or white. Just recently, I have noticed a "mom" driving a black Explorer that is a decommission Explorer Interceptor. The former sticker impressions are faint but they're there if you look. I can not tell if it is an awd EcoBoost. This could be the fun mom!
I'll have to look closer to see if it still has the cage for keeping the elementary kids "detained."

Not all police cars are black and white, though. Particularly state troopers.
In reply to Tom_Spangler (Forum Supporter) :
I wasn't trying to imply that all that was offered by GM was B/W but rather just that one of the offerings would be B/W given that it can be a common scheme for cops cars....and this was only sold as a cop car.

The really fun moms are the ones who used to ride in it!
Sold for $6,600 + 12.5% buyer's fee. Ungh. No, I'm not the new owner. No thank you. For that price, I'd rather own the 69 Caddy that Asa found in Florida.
There is a cop car place west of Chicago. Sketchy dealer has a lot of cars. Use it for reference. They have much higher prices on the Caprices

That's a back seat you don't care if the kids pee in it or forget their crayons in August.
