Interesting... what RPMs did you correlate? The MZR is supposed to be good to 7400 and I cut the 13B off at 10,500.
That torque bump looks like it may be enough to compensate for the parasitic losses of an automatic trans, so I can put a Ranger 5R44 in there. The biggest problem I have is keeping manual transmissions alive and nobody makes a (cheap) automatic that is reliable that high.
Next problem: Not sure what the overdrive ratio is. I'd want to keep the 5.43 gears for handling reasons. 5.43 times whatever the OD is divided by 24" tires equals my cruise RPM.
Ooops. I had 7140 as the cutoff for the MZR, not 7400. I can change that. 10,000 for the 13B. (that's where the graph stops).
I had the Rotary with a 2.2 2nd gear, MZR with a 1.57. I recognize these aren't readily available gears... that's just so I could set them to have identical top speeds so it was a fair comparison.
If you want to give me your gear options, I'll rework it and re-post
Edit: What's even worse is I just realized that I had an array formula error on the rotary... it never has greater power than the MZR.
Fixed graph. Includes MZR to 7400. Give me a power estimate for the 13B at 10,500.

Don't know, don't care. I deliberately kill power because if it made power to, say, 10,5, then I'd need the engine safe to 12-13k. Nope.

Nice. I was wondering who was making dog gearsets for Audi transmissions.
Besides not really having $7k burning a hole in my pocket, I'd much prefer to have an automatic trans.
The 5R44 has a 2.47 1st, 1.87 2nd, and 1.47 3rd. It's basically a C3 trans, with an overdrive, and they engage overdrive between 1st and "2nd" to make a new 2nd, which is why I am kind of a fan of the Ford 5-speed autos. .75 5th. So 1-2-3 is actually a lot closer than even a Miata 5-speed's transmission (which IIRC is 3.1??, 1.888, and 1.313), and it has twice as much of an overdrive. I'm too lazy to do the math, but one of the manual transmissions I was considering for the 13B had a similar overdrive and it would have worked out to something lke 3500rpm at 70. Not too bad, that's still a bunch lower than my Quantum is.
