I would find the Yamaha R1 derivative they used in their snowmobiles. Why? Separate transmission. People are working on kits to swap them into Smart cars. Liquid cooled so the radiator should be adequate.
A 1 liter diesel would rule too.
Do you have the rough size of the stock engine? Considering it's a Kei truck, it's probably pretty tiny.
