LOL reminds me of a car built by the Porsche shop I worked for in HS. It had been totalled 3 times. The 3rd time the owner downshifted for an exit ramp, got boost, pulled the front wheels off the ground and went off-roading.
For some reason they grafted on a new front clip rather than moving the drivetrain to a new shell.

Yup. It was so long ago now (2001) that most of the articles online about it are long gone, but you can find snippets here and there...hard to tell if he was the man in charge, an accomplice, or just in the wrong place at the wrong time, but he only did time for a year AFAIK.
MOUNT VERNON: STOLEN PORSCHE RING -- A race car driver was among three Mount Vernon businessmen arrested over the weekend on charges related to auto theft, the Westchester County district attorney's office said yesterday. District Attorney Jeanine F. Pirro said Eddie Bello, 35, a drag racer of Porsches, stocked Porsche engine parts with defaced vehicle identification numbers at his auto body shop, while two other repair shop owners had parts and entire cars -- including Porsches -- that appeared to be stolen.
