Yesterday forum member white_fly picked up his 'new' 1999 Porsche Boxster. I was glad to see it go to someone who will appreciate and enjoy it. Before he drove away, I cleaned up the cars in my driveway and recorded a video of what will probably be my 'high water mark' of seven running, driving Boxsters (parts cars and rollers don't count).

You should submit the vid to Guinness World Records.

The Element is Mrs AAZCD's Forever Car. I tried to convince her that a newer Honda Fit Sport would be a good replacement, but she had no interest in giving up the Element. It's the perfect dog car, great reliability and low repair cost, spacious and comfortable (in a basic non-luxury sense). At around 170k miles it has only needed some suspension bushings, a couple engine seals, and clutch (at about 150k). The only replacement I can imagine at this point would be a newer Element.

Chopping Block... I mentioned in the video that "THAT" is going to be for sale soon. As my daughter's daily driver for a couple years it saw lots of miles and a little neglect. Working on it, I'm still trying to reach the point where I am happy with it's condition going out the door without trying to fix every little squeak and rattle. The Sequoia is filling a gap, "Tow vehicle" until we decide on a newer one. I was sold on the idea of a newer Porsche Cayenne (our daughter now has the '04 Cayenne), but the '04 Sequoia came up as an opportunity buy right when the COVID lock-down was about to start. It is not as good a Tow vehicle as 'Pepper', but we like the third row seats and interior layout of the Toyota. ...point being this Sequoia is temporary and I'm probably going to get a newer one or another Cayenne. The hearse is so far down the list of project cars right now that I may never get to it, but it is easy to keep and serves a good function as it is.

Beyond that... Boxsters. I can live with 'just' five Boxsters. I know them well and have a good stash of parts to keep them going. I have no problem parting with one if a better one presents itself, but the '04 Special Edition stays. Once I get a 914 sorted out and on the road, I think having four Boxsters will be okay. ...no promises.

Why do you have 7 boxers anyway? The hurst is very cool to see and that would be something fun to take to car shows..with a coffin in the back.

Because that's all that will fit.

In 2014 I was tiring of Honda Del Sols. I had been flipping and parting out 90s Hondas for a few years and wanted something 'better'.

I started looking for a Honda S2000, and I found a very affordable 2000 Porsche Boxster S. It had sold just before I contacted the seller. The quest for my first Boxster began and I bought a 1999. My wife wanted one too. I bought her a 'shallow water' flood salvaged 2001, thinking that it would just just need the immobilizer box under the driver's seat replaced. It needed an engine. I bought a collision damaged silver '01 parts car for the engine. The engine swap and IMS replacement was pretty straightforward; no harder than anything I had done on Hondas, maybe easier.

Parting out the silver car brought in enough money to buy a repairable salvage car with a hard top. It just kept growing from there. Cars that I enjoyed working on. Lots of demand and decent money when I parted them out. I was going to stop after buying 12, but then the $1,000 black one came up and was an easy decision. I don't have plans to buy more at this point, but I wouldn't rule it out either - I've had mostly black/white/silver and there are lots of interesting colors left
