Wagons are a lot like porn. I can't define it, but I know it when I see it. My ms3? Not a wagon. My corolla? Definitely a wagon.

I demand at least one turbodiesel wagon. And fake wood on everything. EVERYTHING.
Also that magnum is giving me terrible desires for either a new "daily driver" that does neither or an engine for my dakota.
And when I say terrible desires I literally mean it. I had to fire up paint for the glorious image that my brain birthed.

The misfire scared me too much to pursue.
Common thing on COP V8's any moisture/oil get's in the plug hole, and the mixture of oil/water/heat (steam) deforms the rubber surrounding the "plug wire" spring, and bingo. Misfire. Bring a scan tool, figure out what cylinder is misfiring, swap COP assembly with another, and clear the code. 90% of the time misfire will follow the COP.
If anyone in NC especially close to Raleigh needs a couple more idiots that might be able to contribute something to a challenge build hit me up. I especially like wagons.
I've been searching co-part a bit. If I could snag a Saturn SW with a blown powerplant (should be < $500 on craigslist), and an Ion RL or even an Ion 2.4 and combine the two, it would be a very solid performer. The 2.4 would be a lot cheaper and should still do 13s, leaving monies for suspension.
Anyone want to join in for a magnum build?!?
The magnum team or team magnum... I may be willing to compromise my team name for this one.

My vote would be for "Team Magnum XL"

This would be proper fast.
My guess is a saturn wagon will win the wagon class. Mainly because light, but also because of awesome folks like you. Do it!!
I’m kind of thinking a Saturn wagon or a Protege5 would do quite well in the autocross, while an old G body wagon would be the path to drag strip glory.
I know where there are 2 V70's that could probably be had for scrap value if there is a willing builder in Central TX. PM me but I know they need to go quickly and I think they have transmission issues.

Once I get the miata together, I'm going to try and get Vigo in on doing a wagon challenge car.
I'm all for a wagon class. I've thought the wagon class would be a great subclass since the van class was announced.
Being this is the 20th anniversary of the Challenge maybe wagons wait a year and the sub class is for repeat offenders. Cars that have been to the challenge but not the last challenge? Stir the pot a little. Wishing I hadn't sold off the Z31 now, no way the S30 will fit budget again.

Are any of them wagons? EvanB's thread is giving bad ideas.

Would everyone’s previous budget need to be adjusted to 2018 dollars?
The budget is always whatever the year is- so anyone who brought back a car from this year in the exact same setup who had spent the full $2017 would have a whole extra dollar to make improvements.

Adjusted to correlate with bitcoin value

I was joking, but there was a bit of seriousness to the question.
I think it would be interesting to adjust the budgets (or budget limits) of previous entries to see the what the difference in budget limits over the 20 years would be if adjusted to a common baseline.
On edit: Have the costs for part like LSx engine, engine management, and other supplies come down enough to offset inflation?
