You finally got a copy of that new racing game everyone’s been talking about. You boot it up, press start and dive into action.
What is the first car you attempt to buy? Is it something close to one of your own IRL cars, a dream ride you hope to own someday or something else entirely?

V60 Polestar in "Swedish Racing Green."
If that's not available, I'll settle for a 240 Turbo or any older model Volvo.
When we first got Gran Turismo, I started with a dark gray Primera. Why? My old Sentra SE-R.
In forza, I get a 2004 STI, Silver. The reason? My pride and joy, my 2005 WRX Wagon.
OG Gran Turismo was always the honda del sol with the tostitos themed 'race mods'
Evo 6. Always. Can't wait to get mine stateside legally next year.
Something with a lot of horsepower and very little control. I love that combination in video games.

You know, I have the Gran Turismo user guides here in my office.

I haven't gamed since Forza 2 was new, but the first two cars I bought were a SW20 MR2 Turbo and an E46 M3 GTR.
NA Miata, because Miata.
But usually, some little econo-crap-box hatch, the weirder / not-available-in-America the better.
Being off for a couple weeks with surgery I picked up gt 7. First car I bought: Honda fit. Only because the Japanese gamers don't like Korean cars much.
Just recently started playing GT4 again about a month ago. Here's where my game save was after a 16 year hiatus.
I'm 4 cars away from having every car in the game. The 1915 Ford Model A, 1968 Mazda (B110} rotary thing, 1996 Silvia K's, and the 1989 Nissan R89C. The Ford and Nissan I have to hit 100%, and the other two are in the used car lots.
Completing Mission 34 gets me 100%.
Usually aim for an R33 GTR or Viper GTS (dream cars), or try and collect the cars I own IRL. Have to got ALLLL the way back to GT2 for digital version of my Intrepid tho, which predates both my third gen Camaro (first appearance in concept form in GT4) and E36's (Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero) existing in digital video game form.

They typically start you with the econoboxes, I try to get a CTR as soon as possible, then upgrade to an evo. That can carry you fairly deep into the game
I think in the first Gran Turismo I started off with an MA70 Supra, which happened to also be my first car in real life :)
I try to get whatever's closest to my current car. Or a 350Z, because I still have a soft spot for those.
My first "impulse" buy in a racing game is a Porsche. My goal is all the Porsches as quickly as possible.
When I got Gran Turismo 5 (I think) my wife blew her $25k on a new Miata because she had one at the time. I bought a used Skyline for less and smoked her on the tracks.
I buy every Porsche DLC pack for every game...
I cant recall the last racing game I played where I had to purchase a car
In reply to David S. Wallens :
Wow, you needed an imagination back then to play video games.
One of the first games I remember playing.
