They are simple tools but they work just fine. There are tons of clones out there, pick one. I've used the one I have so much that I wore out and replaced the bushings that hold the arbor. Now the threads in the adjuster/clamp plate are gone too so I just use a through bolt set up.
If you have a lathe or mill you can get more complicated but you won't end up with a much better notch for the money.
Mine looks like a worn out version of this one but painted yellow.
I got mi e from horrible fright. Worked awesome. Get good hole saws. I prefer the Lennox bimetal
