I actually just got some vinyl from a sign shop to make the stripes. I think they are and inch and a half wide or somewhere thereabouts.
^^^^ yep have a sign shop make them.
they used the stripes because with multiple cars of same color on track they knew as the cars passed which driver they were at a glance based on the # of hash marks on the fender.
Yes, they were different colors to tell the cars apart (nowadays the ALMS teams have different colored mirrors). They were also only on the driver's side, though modern interpretation is to have them on both.
The planned schema of my 240 includes those in impact blue on the fender... half because I think they'll look good against the semigloss black and half to tweak the nose of the guy in our region that drives a C4 GrandSport :twisted:
