Heyguys, How's it going? I've followed this mag for years, in fact, the first issue I ever bought was the supercar issue with the c4 vette and viper featured in it. I drive a 1980 c3 vette daily and I'm working on a 65 pick-up right now so that I can get a trailer and find a replacement daily driver to make the vette a race car only. I'm definetely tired of this being a pipe dream, I'm determined to get on track this year and I'm going to sign up for some open track events at buttonwillow as soon as they open registration up. So you'll being seeing me post questions as I have them and I'll try and help you guys out as well.
I'm loving the truck, dude.
And don't forget autocross..even if you don't have anything ready for the racetrack at the moment, you can still go slide the car around and have some fun (and usually pretty cheap).
Beautiful set of cars. I noticed right away that that C3 was an '80+. My dad has an '81 that we've done quite a bit of work on. When I visit, I usually get to drive it more than he does Be sure to put your cars under rides in your profile. I'd like to see more about what you're doin with your Vette. My dad has been on the fence as to either sell it or continue modifying it.
Hmmm, I dont care If late 70's/early 80's vettes are the low water mark in HP, They are sex on wheels.
Enjoy the forums and the answer is Miata

That's the truth. They did lighten up the car significantly starting in 1980. And it's out of emissions-testing. My dad's was down a cylinder, so we just replaced it with a ZZ4-based engine. Haven't dynoed it, but should be about 300hp at the crank
Luckily, I managed to snag an L-82, so the motor is marginally better then the other 1980 vettes. No computer controlled carb on this one (thank god). My mods include an aluminum radiator and electric fan, replaced the calipers all around and swapped to stainless lines, tubular upper a-arms w/ aluminum crossshafts, lower tubular a-arms and composite front mono-spring (not installed yet), bilsteins all around (also not installed yet), and hooker side-pipes. I haven't touched the gearing yet so it's still a bit slow with a TH-350 and 3:08's in the back. Unfortunetely, I have to smog this one since I'm in california, so I have to put all the smog equipment on it every two years . I'm also having an issue with the upper a-arm bolts walking their way out of the cross shaft on the right hand side, I've even used lock-tite to no avail, so I'm buying some nice safety wire equipment in a couple weeks and learning how to do that cause I'm tired of messing with it..
Decided to check out some of those custom-built frames for C2 and C3 Vettes. Apparently Philly Motorsports is already making one incorporating C5 technology. Street Shop Inc has already got one with some C6 technology.
Cool! I've always liked the late c3 Vettes even though its not the most popular.
Fist thing I noticed: Trans Am. Sweeeeeet.
big-bumper nova usually gets no love, but i like 'em (almost) as much as the '68 - 72. cool collection. welcome aboard!

Dang that is a nice collection. I love the fact that they don't look to be showroom polished. Looks like they are actually used, but taken good care of. Badass.
I love the C3 stylings, and that truck reminds me of my dad's old truck that I think might still be living in the family somewhere (only nowhere near as pretty as your's).
Have fun with that C3 on track! It's kind of a shame that I never see any of that vintage out there. I wouldn't wait to get a trailer before taking that car out for it's first track day. You'll be really slow and just learning your first couple of times, and there will be really minimal risk, as long as you listen to your instructor.
Welcome aboard!
nice rides welcome to the party
Thanks guys. The slova and the trans actually belong to my friends. The slova (dubbed due to its lowly 305 powerhouse) was recently sold and replaced with an earlier nova that has a 383. The trans has a 383 as well but that guy just traded it to his dad for a 73 camaro. Yeah, I'm not going to wait until I get a trailer, I figure I'll only get around to doing open track HPDE this year but I'm determined to build one so I can turn the corvette into a real track car next year. Thats the idea right now at least, we all know how that goes lol.

We're gonna need to see some more photos of that truck.
A 64 C10 Custom in about the same shade of blue was one of my many rides in high school. 230 six with three-on-the-tree. It was a complete pile, but I still miss shifting it.
Take a good long look at those rear trailing arms and check for rust. You don't want one to fail while you're moving. Ask me how I know...
