This site:

https://ateupwithmotor.com/terms-technology-definitions/split-torque-lockup-converters/

I was curious as to when the first lock-up torque converter was introduced and who made it.  I googled and stumbled upon this site.  To say I’m impressed would be the understatement of the year.  Somebody has put a METRIC CRAP TON of work into that site and I can’t figure out what the revenue stream is or who even supports it.  It seems to just exist.  The articles are print quality.  By that I mean there are few (if any) typos and it all reads really well.  Far and away different from most digital media (this site not included of course).  This is a goldmine for car nerds.  Does anybody know the history of it and why it’s there?

Looks like boilerplate blog to me.  Maybe someone with more "SOMEONE ON THE INTERNET IS WRONG!" than they have other things to do just sort of Wordpressed it up?

That is a pretty impressive site.

Maybe he could write an article defining a hatchback.

Dig in to it.  “Boilerplate blog” is an antonym to what this site is.  Drill up from the link I gave.  I was too far down.

Half my window was covered up with nagware asking me to allow cookies and disable adblocker and probably give them my social security number and a DNA sample.  So, no.

I scrolled through the page, hit a bunch of generic blogoverse comments section, and mentally signed out altogether.

ateupwithmotor is one of my favorite sites.  And it's one dude.  He's slowed down a bunch over the last couple of years, but I could and have spend hours on that site.

Really?  I got one disclaimer saying that they use Google Analytics and offering the chance to opt out (which most sites that use it don't give you the option), and one cookies notice at the bottom.  Didn't have to whitelist them either.

And the articles are mostly just deep dives into the history of various car models....dude doesn't have an axe to grind.

I first learned about that site when Murilee Martin linked to it when he was writing for Jalopnik.

That site is incredible and has been top shelf quality for a decade plus. I was worried something bad happened when I saw the title of this post. Knurled you owe it another go. The author is incredibly knowledgeable and goes into serious depth on all his articles.
