Time for a new set of shoes for my 1997 M3. This car has Koni single adjustables and H&R sport springs, with camber plates in the front and TMS adjustable camber arms in the rear. Fenders are not rolled. Car also has some engine upgrades from TMS ( chip, cams, injectors, CAI). I have been running 17x7.5 BMW motorsport wheels with 235/40/17 Dunlop Direzza Z1 for the last three seasons. I do 4-7 HPDE events each summer. Car is still street legal and driven to and from the track on the same wheels / tires run on track.
I have been considering two wheel options: 17x8.5 Kosei K1 or 17x9 Apex Arc-8. Also considering two tires Direzza Z2 and BFG Rival, both in 245/40/17. I am leaning towards the Apex Arc-8 with Direzza Z2, but the Kosei is $400 less. However I have read reports of the Kosei cracking.
Anyone have experience with any of the above, particularly on an e36 M3? Any other setups you would recommend over these options? I am not considering R compounds as this car still gets driven around town.
