Compared to other indignities that have been inflicted on water cooled VWs, that's not too bad.
A flat 4 wouldve been a cooler powertrain option.

But I'm not a purist. I have bigger issues with the rat rod thing just in terms of the massive emphasis on looks over function, but we've had that discussion here a bunch of times.

That chasis says "flexi-flyer", but I keep thinking what a hoot a car like that would be with a well-sorted chasis and suspension. Can you imagine how much fun it would be at a track day to be blowing off high-bucks cars in that? Uh oh, I feel inspiration coming on. Honey! break out the torch, it's roddin' time!

This looks more like a unique $20XX Challenge car than a 'rat rod' to me...Almost makes me want to try something similar someday.
I still think thats better than the stanced/hellaflushed/illest/flatbiller vintage VW's.....

Big, old-school blackwall slicks on the back and he'd have a pure win. Not real sure about the helmet, but whatever. I've seen more than one using spittoons on dual quads, so what the hell.

Me Likie. Needs flat black, Huuuge orange flames on the body, better wheels, and Dita Von Tease perched on the roof... But it's a good start. 
One of the things that holds me back IRT rods like this are what I assume to be really heavy rotating mass and the effect it must have on handling and breaking. Any guess what those wheel/tire combos weigh?
