Replacing the front hub/bearings on the Miata (brake pads while I'm at it). Finding sources for new hubs and brake pads is easy. What I need is a good place to buy the hub nut, and the little aluminum hub cover (this I damaged too much in removal to want to reuse). The nearest Mazda dealer is 60miles away. My Mazdaspeed factory support has lapsed since I've been out of the country and not racing.

So, any suggestions on where to get these little piddly parts? The hub nut isn't too tough to find, but the hub cover is.

Find the part number, dump it into google. Usually it will come up on a site that sells parts sourced through Mazda.

This is why I love German cars, there are a ton of companies that cater to them specifically. The internet is a great place, you just have to learn how to use it to your advantage.

A little piddly part like that is probably Mazda-specific. So you're looking at mail order. Loads of options. There are no shortage of Mazda parts suppliers.

Is that really all it took, or are you getting fresh with me?

That was all it took. I slapped myself on the forehead when I read your suggestion. I already had the mazdaspeed catalog pulled up with the part numbers available. I had just been stupidly doing searches for "miata hub cover", "miata hub dust cap", and other similar variations that brought up wheel center caps or hub nuts or forum discussions.

Speaking of finding things... you work at a Porsche parts place, jes? Could you perchance verify something for me? Is the form factor the same on the motor for part 96457201501 (front squirrel cage blower for a 964) the same as the HVAC blower motor for a '74 -> '89 911/930?

I am mainly concerned that the diameter and body length are the same.

I'm not sure I would have the resources to accommodate that. I believe it to be true, having seen them both. But without being able to compare side-by-side, I wouldn't know for sure.
