The 1uzfe is 1 3/8" ID. The sr20det radiator is 1.5" OD. How can I make this work? A search shows a few looking things, but they don't come in 1 3/8". Then there is the crazy idea of some kinda weird, stepped, coppery-metal, self made, hack job, "wtf am I doing?!?" Adapter.

Have you gone to "home depot racing" yet? The plumbing section is ripe for pickings.

Can't be plastic right? And then does steel or copper or aluminum matter? ID to ID, but does the step affect flow?

Id suggest no plastic. Copper would probably be best bet at homedepot because the only other option they have is cast iron and that probably wouldnt work out so well. I wouldnt worry about flow because as you said the engine is 1.375 so the rad being 1.5 doesnt exactly boost flow. If you cant find something, next week i can machine you an aluminum adapter just pay shipping..flat rate box so like $5-7. Thats if you dont need it like right now ha.

Take a machinist's scale to the parts store and see if you can't find a exhaust reducer that would work? You'd need to add beads to that though. Doing it in copper would probably be expensive unless you can buy pipes that big 1 foot at a time, typically those diameters you'll also only find the really thin stuff for drains.

The ID of the 1UZ hose is 1 3/8? At only 1/8" bigger, you might be able to just shove the hose on and go.

I bought something similar in a plastic barb fitting. It failed. Found brass ones on line to the tune of around $20 plus shipping. Went out to the garage and made one of those home made bodge together things out of copper tubing, but, since I'm a real life master plumber, it was a professional home made bodged together copper pipe thingy. Home depot racing is your answer here if your as cheap as everybody else on here.

Take a brake line bend it in the shape of the hose you need or just used a tape measure and a pad of paper then go to a parts store and ask if you can look at the hoses and find one to match keeping in mind you may have to trim the ends. I used a tape measure and paper to do an ADD on rad on the grader for the local dirt track. have pictures but no storage place

Edit: After searching through there I don't see any 1 3/8"; to 1.5"...you could try to persuade one of these to fit:

This looks like it'll work.

big hose on small fitting?

just tighten the hell out of the clamp... after a couple of heat cycles it will be molded to it's new size.. done it a few times, most recently when i put the radiator and dual electric fans out of a 94 Caprice 9C1 in my 74 Monte Carlo, drove it for 5 years and who knows how many tens of thousands of miles like that..

And yet the lower radiator fitting on my Samurai drips on every cooldown because the surface of the fitting is corroded
