So do you guys have some secret squirrel methods for finding exhaust components? We need a 2" to 2.5" Y-pipe merge collector for the Lemons car we're building. The best I've found is a $44 part on Amazon. The box store sites seem useless.

Honestly I don't think we have the time or skill (my fab-ability sucks). We'd probably butcher the first couple, negating any cost-benefit of just buying a <$50 part. lol

I'd hit the junkyard with a sawzall then. Makes sure you bring something to measure with also .
A couple spots that come to mind (other than Summit/JEGS) are Stainless Headers (stainlessheaders.com), Columbia River Mandrel Bends (mandrelbends.com), and SPD Exhaust (spdexhaust.com).
I have no doubt that you can get exactly what you need from any one of those, but they may not mesh with a LeMons budget. Doesn't cost anything to call/surf and find out though.

Forgot about Summit/Jegs! Never heard of those other two so I'll check them out.
Found this at Summit. $15 cheaper, but the design doesn't look nearly as good.
I used that exact part to make a Y pipe for our lemons Hombre/S10. It’s better looking in person and worked well, waaaay better than the stock crap that GM used. That combined with a few mandrel bent u pieces and a glass pack, reused stock hangers, etc. you’ll want a 3 bolt flange too so that you can take it apart in the middle somewhere rather than one big piece.
Look at Morris Couplings. Lots of various tubing components. I don’t know how they compare to the standard exhaust suppliers.
any chance you can fit a 2 in one out muffler in to accomplish two goals at the same time? this one's only 9.75" wide, and while you'd have to neck up your piping at the inlet, it probably would be trivial for any muffler shop to install.
On Wheeler dealers they had a set of "Tubing Legos"
they were round Lego type plastic pieces , tubing size with different angles that you could put together and design your exhaust system around the steering box etc ,
Once designed to could take it over the the local tube bender to have it made :)
of course they never said where you could buy the "Legos" but I thought it was a neat idea !

Usually used for headers, rather than the post-collector part of the exhaust. Not cheap, but pretty awesome. But not quite as straightforward to use as they'd have you believe.
edit - looks like they're coming out with post-collector stuff, but it doesn't appear to be available yet.
You'll need to log in to post.
