Given all of the Miata banter of late, I have a related question. Are there reputable sources out there for composite panels and/or pieces? I'm interested in knowing more about their availability for the Miata. Hoods, fenders (regular and flared), trunk lids, bolt on wheel arch flares, etc. Both carbon fiber and fiberglass would be welcome. Any recommendations?
Thanks!

I hear Miata.net is THE source for info on these cars, but having never owned one I suppose I'll have to go over there and read up...

First question is why? The hood is aluminum, the bumpers are plastic, and the steel is thin anyways. The sawzall Miata owner on here is who you need to talk to though.

I can understand trunk and fenders but not much else.
Autokonexion sells both Fiberglass and Carbon parts. I have no direct experience with the products but have read on forums like miata.net to expect some fitment issues.

Check out AWR -- they have 'glass and CF parts.
Good quality stuff -- am using their flares for my TVR -- oddly enough they seem to be an almost perfect fit

A few reasons. The ability to bolt on flared fenders, better looks, replacement of damaged/bent parts, etc. Weight reduction wouldn't be the only goal.
EDIT: Thanks for the recommendations to AWR and Autokonexion!
Forgot to add this -- some of the AWR motorsports stuff is made for them by DG Motorsports.
linky
I know this because I tried to order some stuff from AWR, was politely told that they don't carry some of the stuff done by DG motorsports, although they list it on the AWR website.......they gave me Dave Green's cell directly to call. Nice guy, makes high quality parts!!!!!! very good looking parts, light weight, nice gelcoat covering. If I was putting these on a Miata, they look like they'd be a quick fit.....on my TVR there is a little fettling required.
Can recommend both AWR and DG motorsports

I would love a set of bolt-on flares. 2 of my fenders have wrinkles in the wheel arches, and I really want 15x9 wheels.
Threads are always better with hotlinked pics. Flared Miata porn!

Good to know! Thanks again.
IIRC, the guy I bought my hardtop from was involved with a company making a CF hardtop (Chaser aero IIRC)
Lighter then the factory hardtop, but illegal for the good racing classes and heavier then removal if you arent required to have one.

Thanks for the lead. Out of ignorance, why is the CF hard top illegal for racing classes (I'm guessing you mean Spec Miata)?
Not to threadjack, but in case someone needs them for a Miata or other project, I have a spare set of flares. These are fronts only and fit the '06 and up Miata. Willing to let these go for less than I bought them for.....one has a couple of holes from cleco clamps but are otherwise untouched.
And if you need a full set, DG motorsports will make you a set for the rear of the car -- ask how I know
Send me a PM..........
Many of the composite parts manufacturers churn out low quality parts. Try to see the parts before you buy. And one of the high quality part makers is Axis Power Racing.
