So the 2010 Sedona has had a faint noise and vibration coming from the front passenger side for a while (actually months). But it wasn’t bad enough to make me nervous, or have SWMBO complain about beyond mentioning it when it first showed up.
Finally checked it out while taking the snow tires of and installing the all seasons. No real noticeable binding, noise or roughness when rotating the passenger side front tire with trans in N, but tiny bit of play with a slight click when trying to rock the tire with hands at 3-9 and 12-6. No noise or play on the drivers side front tire.
My conclusion is that it’s the front wheel bearing and that I need to replace the hub assembly, preferable before driving to DC Memorial Day weekend, but probably not critical. Yet.
I looked online and prices range from $170-$350 from NAPA, $375 from a “kiapartsnow.com” claiming to sell oem, and I still need to call the dealer for price.
So who does everyone like for hub assemblies? Or do I bite the bullet and go oem, which is the way I’m leaning? Any recommended online site for dealers selling Kia parts at competitive prices?
Thanks.
I generally buy Timken or SKF unit bearings for the Jeep (SKF is OE). What brands are you seeing available?
For a commuter, I've had plenty of fine luck with Centric, Timken and other name brands, which I often pick up from Napa. I'm a lot more picky with the Miata hubs for a track car, because there's been some evidence of premature failure due to casting differences vs OEM, but I doubt you'll be hard cornering in R-Comps in your Sedona :)
Timken and SKF are what I put in all my rigs

SKF is the TLA I couldn't remember for my post, thanks! :)
Timken, SKF, Moog, in no particular order.
Thanks everyone for the feedback.
I called the dealer this morning, just to see what genuine Kia would cost....$540 including tax, so that’s not going to happen. I can’t see spending double the cost of aftermarket for installation on a 9 year old minivan with 115k miles.
It looks like I can get SKF for less than half that through RA, with a 3yr/ 45k mile warranty. I think if I put it on the Amex, they will add another year to the warranty, but need to ask them about the mileage portion of the warranty since we average 15k per year.
I have Centric on the rally e30 and my Porsche. They've been as good as anything, and are pretty inexpensive on RockAuto.
