OK, I've posted a couple times, ran a few laps in my car and others, I drive a Mini Cooper S for the Track Rides charity contributions at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, and my drivers are (3) interesting not-so-new cars: 1990 Miata in "everybody's got one Red", 2006 Mini Cooper S Checkmate that's been to the gym, and a 1996 Volvo 850R DD that hasn't. Good to be here, great magazine, nice Forums.

Welcome DixonL2 and BadJuju!
Sounds like a great set of cars, and sweet Beetle! Glad to have you both here.
Yo. n00b from Michigan here.
Just looking around, learning more about RallyCross racing...and if there's one car that can do both RallyX and AutoX reasonably well.
Peace!

Hello to AndyG and everyone else! Not-so-noob from Michigan, but that's only because of the number of years on the odometer. I've just one track day in my backstory, a glorious Buell Owner's Day at Mid-Ohio, October 2007. I've never participated in a motorsport otherwise. One of these years... ;-)
I sold my 2004 XB12R Firebolt in 2010 after the one and only attempt to carry my future wife as a passenger. We replaced it, and the 1978 Gold Wing which had been my wrenching joy, with a 2007 XB12X Ulysses just before the wedding. we had our first child about ten months later. My wrenching nowadays is dedicated to keeping a DVD-equipped minivan on the road.
I came for the story of Seth's R63 and subscribed to the magazine. Then I read a couple of DusterBD13's threads, and renewed for three years! Brilliant stuff, and inspirational - my kids need to learn about hard work, such as detailing an interior. I need to find a $2000 car that can do a little autocrossing...

Hi everyone,
I'm new here, a long time lurker but haven't posted a lot. I am basically following builds and taking notes. I have had a few projects in the past. I am an industrial mechanic by trade but not working in the trade at the moment.
I'll have a build eventually. Just have a basic daily driver at the moment that isn't mod friendly.
Cheers everyone!
Welcome AndyG, davefla and Swiss44! Glad to have you all here. Hope you enjoy it.
Hi, I’m new here. I found Grassroots when searching for information about wiring my helmet, and have since subscribed to the magazine as well. Although I’ve been a big fan of watching motorsports (GT Racing is my favorite) I’ve only just recently begun the journey of taking my driving to the track.
I completed my first HPDE with the BMW CCA at VIR in March, and was immediately hooked. In the words of my instructor, “after the first lap it was like someone had stuck a needle in my veins.” I drive an OEM+ E46 ZHP, but hope to pick up an E30 for dedicated track use as I get into the sport more.

Long time lurker, been casually doing HPDE with my daily driven 06 s2000. Hoping to start doing more HPDE soon and eventually TT/TA events. Biggest hurdle right now is getting the s2k setup with the proper safety equipment while still being dailyable, at least for now.. Hoping to get more involved in posting :)
Here it is at Waterford hills in Michigan, now living in south Jersey though, definitely gunna miss this little track.

I'm a long time GRM reader, but new to the forum. I'm 41, father of 8-year-old twins, and live 2 miles from the now-closed Texas World Speedway where I cut my teeth in HPDE. I've owned a long list of good low-budget driver's cars. Currently, my garage holds my lightly modified '05 330i ZHP 6-speed daily and a completely stock 18k mile '02 S2000.

When Texas World Speedway was still open, I ran track-prepped Miatas - first a red na, then a blue nb.

Long time reader of both the magazine and the forum. Love to read the projects section when not working on my own stuff.

I've been lurking on this forum for a long time now, mostly because I never felt that I had much to contribute. The most fun vehicle in my garage currently is a 1993 Toyota T100, which is a bit sad. The other two are both tan, and one is a Camry, which is very sad. Hopefully that will change in the near future. Motorcycle, perhaps? We'll see. Nice to meet everyone.
Welcome 704sw, rbt, TheRev, gcurl and bigeyedfish! Glad to have you all here!
Fish, even if you don't have a for-fun car now we hope you stick around. Just a good group of folks around here!
Cool group of cars for the rest of the new users! Love that Scirocco.

Hi all,
I joined about 7.5 years ago,.. and have just piddled around.
I’ve had some “projects” before then,... and have made some impulse purchases, but no real project car until now.
I moved from VA to OH a year ago, and have a garage for the first time. A couple months ago I picked up a very rough bug that I plan on learning by doing all things car on.
Shortly after I impulse bought a wrecked Miata that has me with no room to move or do anything in that garage. Soooooo, it is time to start using the forum to hopefully trade some impulse purchases for tools and parts for FrankenBug.
Regards,
MSB
Name's Brandon. I'm 30. I moved to Denver 2 years ago after 16 years in Phoenix. I work in maintenance for a food manufacturer. You've probably eaten some of our products.
I've owned dozens of cars and a few motorcycles.
My current dailies are an 05 SRT-4

and an 01 Xterra
Short term goal is to find a clean e30 325i. I'm keeping the Xterra for winters, but I may consider getting rid of the Neon if I find a solid running e30. I've had the Neon for almost 5 years now, and it's my 5th Neon (2nd SRT). So getting rid of it might be hard.
Welcome MrMSB! You picked a great place to gain knowledge!
And welcome Stripes! That is a sweet looking SRT-4.
Long time lurker, finally making an account. I've been living in Shanghai, China the last eight years so my driving has been limited to driving my parents' camper van when I am back in Canada for the summers. Shanghai is a crazy place for cars, as Ferraris and Maseratis are an almost daily sight in many parts of the city. If anyone has questions about the Chinese car scene I can do my best to dig up some answers. I'm finally moving back to BC next week and planning to buy my first car since 2010. I will for sure be asking for advice on many things, as I am a complete noob when it comes to actually turning wrenches. My previous rides include a 90 or 91 turbo caravan in high school, a '76 Chrysler Newport Custom w/400ci lean burn that I dd'ed for a few years (think Ricky's car from Trailer Park Boys but maroon and in nice shape), a 98 STS that I loved (totaled by some asshat running from the cops who t-boned me) and finally a POS 94 explorer that puked a head gasket two weeks after I foolishly pruchased it over an 89 IROC convertible. I doubt I'll have much going on project-wise, as I'll most likely be living at a condo with 1 parking spot, but depending on what I buy in the next few weeks I may be consulting the hives for some maintenance tips. Very excited to be moving to the same general area and career as SkinnyG and hoping to see the v8 firefly in person.

Welcome! Glad you joined us. A thread on China's car scene with lots of photos would be very interesting! Start it up!
Might as well start here too. I have an ‘06 Ridgeline and a 72 510. It’s my “project” although I had it forever and don’t do anything crazy with it. Just drive it. I’ve had 510’s since before they were coo... I mean expensive. They’ve always been cool. I am here to just read mostly.
I'm a long time on and off reader who just went for the ten year subscription. Long ago, I was a forum lurker and sometimes contributor.
My project car is a '90 Thunderbird which has needed more love and $$$ than I have been able to provide, but I'm trying to get it back to a streetable condition and maybe setup for some kind of track day.
Hey, I'm new. My name is Colin Valdez, I live in small-town western Oklahoma, I drive truck for a living, and I like playing with anything that has an engine and wheels. My current project is a 1993 Dodge D350 diesel that I'm building for drag racing and daily driving, and I'd also like to try auto crossing it because why not? I also own a '97 GMC Sierra 1500 and what's left of an '01 S10 ZR2. Lots of dreams, mostly pipe dreams, and not much income. What could go wrong?
