I know the event hasn't happened yet but the folks at eBay Motors are putting on a seminar during the car show on Saturday at the $2013 Challenge. They will be teaching us best practices for successful vehicle listings.
eBay is also offering 3-5 challengers free listing that want to sell their car after competing. The car will be photographed and listed from the Challenge under your username. Upon successful sale the $125 eBay fee will be credited to your account.
You must have an eBay seller account in good standing to participate. Interested in selling? Drop me an e-mail if you would like to list your car on eBay for free. darren@grassrootsmotorsports.com
Otherwise, all are welcome to attend the seminar.
I advocated for consideration of what a challenge car would actually sell for years back as a criteria for the contest and got nothing but grief for it but hey best of luck to ya!

Except there is a difference between cars that are worth $2013 and cars that have only $2013 spent on them. And the difference is pretty big. Cars worth $2013 are interesting, but I bet cars that have $2013 spent on them are a lot more interesting.
Right, I agree. I think most challenge cars would sell for much higher than $2013.
I think most of the cars will sell above $2013 as well, I also understand some of you don't want to sell your babies. But for anyone interested, this is a good deal. You'll get the best listing and photos possible, plus more ink in the magazine
The last two cars I bought.... Non challenge.
One was 500 valued at 18k
One was 800 valued at 25k
Some folks overprice a little body, trans and engine work.
I say a challenge car can only be rated on money 'in' not time... There is no price on time.
Seeing my time quoted on paper just made me mad.... Haha.
I'm looking for a challenge car as well but my work would make me sick to sell it at a true challenge price.
This seminar thing is a great idea.
We sold our 2012 Challenge car on eBay last year a little while after the challenge. It sold for around $6,600. Not bad for a stripped car with no interior, and home made rims.
I wish I could dig up the ebay ad I used so they could critique it. Also it was loaded with photos from the ebay blog, and I was a bit concerned about that.

Oh, I found the ad. The photo links have gone bad, but the video is still there.

Time IS worth money. Why else do people charge by the hour?
Sold my $2012 car on eBay a coupla months ago.

This is very relevant to my interests. However, my thinking was to wait till the spring. Hopefully the event coverage in the mag and it being a better time to sell in the spring would bring more for it. To me, right before the holidays seems like a bad time to sell vehicles like these.

That's my favorite time to buy.

That's because you know it's the best time to be a buyer
