Why is it so damned hard to find a nice, light, 17x9" wheel that will fit a 3rd generation Camaro that does not cost an arm or a leg?
Really, I just want to drive it on the street and autocross the big pig.

If the camaro had a more common bolt pattern like 5x4.5 it wouldn't be a problem. The low offset and chevy only bolt pattern make it a pain to find a nice modern wheel at a good price.
Aren't C5 Corvette wheels 17x9? The OE's are pretty light, it's the aftermarket knock-offs that weigh a ton.
4th gen ss wheels with spacers?
no problem finding nice wheels in 5x4.75, every rwd gm that wasnt a fullsize truck or the latest fullsize cars had it since like 1949. wheels are everywhere.
you could go the bmw wheel route too.
I would prefer to do this without adapters as well. C4 wheels may work but I don't think the C5 wheels will.
c4 wheels are same huge backspace as c5. the early ones were not but they were 16x9 i think.
if you wind up wanting c4 sawblades in 17x9.5 i'll hook you up cheap
I found these in 17x8 5x120 +15mm which will work IF they fit the hub center and spindle nut cover...

I need between a 4.5" and 5.2" backside setting. The vettes are all over 6.5"...
Why is it so damned hard for people to type an informative post title, so that I don't waste my time clicking on topics I don't give a E36 M3 about (like this one)?

+1, even if it is about a mulletmobile.

Be nice now. Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho is a relatively new member, he doesn't know how things work around here.
Nice, light, 17" X 9" wheel, and cheap? You can have 3 out of 4, but not all 4 without spending a bit of cash. Light generally equals weak. Those cars are a bit on the heavy side. I'd want something a touch on the heavy duty end of things. It really sucks when the center of the rim breaks off during a run.

Is there a place I can run my post count up so I can be more... you know... accepted?

If Dwayne cares about weight like he says he does, the Soft 8 is out.

Yeah, because that happens a lot

Isn't there a larger selection of race rubber in smaller sizes?
Could you go with a 15" or 16" that is more common, or are you dead-set on the look of 17" wheels.
The folks at Diamond make some pretty light (for a steel wheel) options if you get into non-DOT stuff.
Shawn
If I run RACE rubber (or R compounds) I will get a set of 15s or 1s but I would prefer a set of nice tight 17s for street duty. The 17s I have listed above are where I will go if the hub bore is close to working. I have emailed the manufacturer for dimensional specs of the hub bore through to the center cap JIC.
