Germans also prefer overalls for working. Most stock photos come from clean German car factories, so when they are used in the US, the overall stand out to me.

That reminds me that I need some small JIS screwdrivers. Anyone have a preferred source?

The last time I was in Canada, the highs were in the 60s and I wore shorts the entire time. It was lovely.
Long pants are for work and temps below 60 only.
I'm usually in shorts until it gets close to freezing. I'd rather wear a light jacket and shorts. For whatever reason, my lower legs and feet are always warm.
I'm sorry everyone. I know my calves are enticing and conjure uncomfortable feelings like climbing the rope in gym class, but I promise I'm not trying to seduce anyone. I'm just highly susceptible to heat stroke while working in temperatures above +/-73.85° when wearing pants.
Pretty much all I do is hot work, so no high tech dino-fibers are safe for me at work. Only time I am definitely wearing pants is when I have to cut something with the torch or plasma cutter while standing next to it. Even then, I'll usually change just to make the cut and change back.
Toyman! saidIt's OK, I won't laugh if you wear long pants on 100 degree days.
The sun here in Vegas will burn the hide of of you.
I wear loose fitting long pants.
If you go to the hardware show again can you check out the selection of 10mm sockets ?

I cringe when I see that.
Long sleeves of any kind should never be worn with shorts. When I see someone wearing shorts and a sweatshirt I want to punch them in the face.

So hostile. - As written from the desk of my home office with a long sleeve shirt on and 5inch inseam shorts.
Also, while traveling in Frankfurt last year. I was surprised at how much tools were compared to US home improvement stores. I was then informed most people just call tradies when they need something done vs. the DIY mentality here. I'm pretty sure the cost has more to do with VAT and import taxes than anything so I'm sure that deters a lot of the DIYers.

Given how much I despise heat, I avoid the sun like a vampire. There is zero chance I will be out in the sun in the desert. Maybe Antarctica. I'd probably enjoy that one.

Short shorts, and long sleeves, you only need a sweater over your shoulders with the sleeves tied in front to complete the look
So much of this thread boils down to the following personal styling types that the girlies have known about for eons.
Are you:
Choose your own adventure. All are acceptable.

Little shirt little pants by nature, forced to little shirt big pants by the man. I had a boss that that was constantly irritated that I wear a short sleeve shirt with a tie year-round.
Looks like JG's shopping is Puma Workwear (https://pumaworkwear.de/Work-pants) and Bullstar WorXtar (https://bullstar.de/hp2119/Arbeitsshort-WORXTAR-1043.htm).
In case anyone wants to go shopping online.

Big shirt, little pants.
Wearing my usual right now: long-sleeve T with Dickies work shorts.
As much fun as hydraulic all over my legs would have been today, I'll stick to little shirt, pants.
Little pants are for swimming or sports only.

That would look great with my lululemon shorts and hermosa beach et surf shirt but whatever you say bro.
I'll do it again tomorrow with my ranger panties just for you š
I find almost nothing more infuriating than an English/Metric tape measure. What a useless, stupid tool.
The designers of them have no idea how a tape measure is used.

I will also wear flip flops with jeans.
