Are there any modifications you have done to your vehicle that you like despite their questionable status? If so, post 'em up!

When I had my first car at 16 I decided to spend a stupid amount of money on lots of stupid stuff, the most stupid of that would have to be the underbody purple neon kit I installed. It was stupid, I was stupid, but damn did it look cool at the time. Hell It might still look cool. I just wish I had some pictures of it on the car.
It was this car.
When some nice person with a hitch decided to put it into my front bumper on my focus and make a nice little dent I got one of those vinyl bandaid decals that drifters used to use and put it on it haha. It made me laugh I don't care what other people thought

To be fair, underneath those stickers are runs from yellow paint that was spilled in the bed at some point.

I'm assuming this was probably awhile ago based on when neon was still cool. I just think its interesting how similar our wheel choices are.

You're going to make me feel old here, but that was 16 years ago.. Damn... half my lifetime ago. I loved those wheels though and still do. Mesh wheels FTW!

Haha I've got two home made margaritas in me, so shut it.

Not my example, but I knew a guy who had an old Volvo that got backed into. Big dent in the rear quarter panel. Instead of fixing it, which he didn't because it was his winter beater car, he took white paint (car was silver) and wrote "Oops" in big letters across the giant dent
In related news, he was one of the most awesome people to talk to that I ever knew.
I have a 5inch tach with shift light in my grandma wagon so i cant judge! Mostly because i had the tach and well i like 5k rpm as a hard limit during hooning.
Usually when I do a mod that doesn't make it perform better it's because my 8 year old looks at me with puppy dog eyes and says he thinks it'll be cool.
I covered the door panels of my first car with blue velour.
My 2nd car had an unusual size factory AM radio in the corner of the dash. So I got one of those plastic cup holder/center consoles that sat on the center hump & rigged up a place for my Alpine head unit, graphic EQ and power amp...then I filled the back seat with my two home stereo speakers, and a "sub box" I built for a pair of 12" midrange drivers I had.
Probably the one "mod" I got the most flac for was hacksawing off the headlight wipers on my Volvo 850 turbo because I thought they looked dorky. In hindsight, they're actually pretty cool.
More in the spirit of this thread, though, I think would be the headliner in my XJ.
I dig it.
No pictures but I painted the surround of my center console chrome on my first car a Nissan Sentra.
I also had a Blaupunkt head unit in there whose display was so bright it looked like I had neons inside the car.
I put a "Obama Can't Gymkhana" sticker and a "Swagon" sticker on my '93 Loyale 4WD wagon.
Not my car, but I had a friend with a road race prepped DB8 Integra sedan that he put a hardwood floor in the trunk. Why? The carpet was gone and he said it made him laugh every time he opened the trunk.

Holy crap that's awesome.
I HATE the offset license plates on my V Wagon and now the R63 too. It's just the easiest way to mount t the required plate without drilling, and I don't have it so much that I want to drill holes in the front of the car. If I end up moving to a plateless front state while I own either one I'd never forgive myself.
I still want a set of undercar neons (now LED's I'm sure) though.I barely even drive at night, I'm old and go to bed before dark, but I want them anyway.
I have neon on 2 separate cars and, cool or not, I'll confess I still kinda like it.
I also have a monster stereo in 1 car with 2000 watts of power, a pair of huge subwoofers, and 12 other speakers. Say what you want, but that thing sounds freakin awesome.
It took me a while to think of one mod that wasnt a good idea cause honestly i think i try to hard not to be "that guy" and ive had way too many cars to really remember what happened to them.
Worst one was i had a black xj and vht niteshad'ed the lights, all of them. It looked pretty good honestly but it was ky first try with it. I screwed up by putting it on the headlights. A hour later i had to drive in the city at dark and couldnt see E36 M3 so when i got home i removed it. Lasted 2 hrs maybe, rest of the blacked out stayed though.
The most "not me" car is my girlfriends volvo, started stock but we/I did all the modifications to it. Its got stickers on lots of places i dont dig but everyone else seems to (my zombie ate your soccer mom, golden retriever taxi, shes a beaute clark, ect) she tried really hard for me to paint the bbs wheels...pink...i stood my ground and painted it gold instead and let her spray the dog gate (aftermarket) pink with sparkles. The exhaust broke a weld so i turbo charged the car instead (only mod i like) but i never got around to welding up an exhaust so its straight pipe...3 years later.. Sounds like a log truck and i do/dont like that "mod". Oh and she convinced me to cut the springs way too short, rear rides fine with new short shocks but the front is bumpstops everywhere you go. And i drive it more than her and its built with my parts so thats why i kinda claim it. Blue one is my dd, silver is hers..my other dd ha
After just finishing the last episode of Top Gear where Jeremy is driving the Fiat with the painted hood, I kinda want to black out the hood on my Mazda 2. Is that a bad thing?

I was meh to it before due to the flat dull colors but since the addition of pearls its worth a look no pun intended.
