C'mon now. The American way is to borrow money from China to be able to afford personal vehicles (and their gas needs) big enough to haul massive amounts of...kids to the mall. You start talking about efficiency and you're practically a bagette-munching surrender monkey!

Utes are a lot like Australians themselves... I don't particularly understand them, but I still like them.

Sometimes I wish my wife would just go over to her mother's for the evening leaving me home......

Single guys, pay no attention to these rantings. Marriage is wonderful, with great cooking and 6-hr love-fests every night.

At least for a few months.

Personally, I look forward to my wife's business trips, then I take vacation during that time, staying home and working on the car everyday. Of course there's also laying around the house watching F1 in underwear and black socks while drinking beer, but I digress.

Are those rainbow stickers on the back of all of the bajas standard or are they owner installed?

FIXED

I have fond memories of doing epic burnouts in a '76 El Camino when I had but a learners permit. I would LOVE one of the Ford Utes with an Ecoboost 6.

Has no one referenced the M5 Ute build that surfaced a few years ago?

The fact that you post pictures of those fugly vehicles in a racing series means nothing. You know they race Metro's too, right? Just because someone does it doesn't mean it's right or good.
I get it, there are folks that like the UTE's. there are also people that like the Aztec, to each their own.....

The few that approach looking decent are the Rampage, the 'stang Ute from a few pages ago and the VW caddy. The thing is, these are pretty square vehicles so the lines are not ruined. The modern Aussie examples have very sculpted lines, then you have that stupid bed that is totally incongruous to the rest of the vehicle. Looks totally stupid to me. Now, the reason the Magnum looks so good (most people still think so) is that sloping roof line. It's in keeping with the looks of the whole car.

Just like the original rabbit truck that would SUCK to drive for any normal height person due to no leg room. dont believe me, just go sit in a MKIV jetta, adjust the seat to where your comfortable and then turn your head and look where the B pillar is. notice the holdens have a little window behind the door to get acceptable leg room.

Got word from Mark on Smyth's FB page that his kit keep about 8" behind the B pillar, and a little side glass. In his words, from the leading edge of the rear seat forward, it's a Jetta.

Some of the older ones aren't fugly (again, square lines...) they still are a far cry from nice looking.
And just so you all know, when I come to power, I will remember this thread....
