After reading the engine codes and the advice offered herein, I made a plan and ordered my parts. Yesterday, with a brief break in the cold, I went out and replaced all 3 O2 sensors, the air and fuel filters, the distributor cap and rotor, and changed the oil and filter. I made sure to buy only AC Delco replacements, except for the O2 sensors- those were Bosch.
Despite being only 2 years old, the dizzy cap and rotor were in horrid shape. I'd seen 40 year old caps on points ignition cars that were in better condition. The center button was worn and the little pins on the cap were all badly pitted. The rotor looked about as bad. These were parts- store grade components, as I recall from when I last changed them. Hopefully the AC/D parts will hold up better.
The truck fired right up and ran beautifully, so here's keeping the ole 10 digits crossed.
