Working on a 1942 Harley chopper. Previous builder was a hack and a half and completely screwed up the wiring harness when adding a Magneto. How I do know. I have rewired the entire bike no except the charging system. I have been using 1 wire alternators for so long I have forgotten the basics and I have no wiring diagram to go off of.
I have a two post generator. I need to connect that to a regulator that I have which came as part of the generator. (Original manufacture is around still). I need to run the live 14v to the battery and turn off the generator light on the dash that I added. I remember that D+ on the regulators is typically used to trigger the dash light. IE it cuts the ground when running. Other then that I am lost.
Connect the “A” wire or terminal on the regulator to the “A” terminal on the generator. Then connect the “F” wire or terminal on the regulator to the “F” terminal on the generator. Connect the B+ wire or terminal on the regulator to the battery.
If you are using the Cycle Electric Inc DGV-5000 generator with built in regulator simply connect the battery wire from the old cut out relay to the “B” terminal on the generator. If you have a generator light connect the wire from the light terminal on the old cut out relay to the “L” terminal on the DGV-5000. Do not use the wire from the “S” or switch terminal on the 32E generator. This wire comes from the ignition switch. Remove this wire or tape it off. You can then remove the cut out relay.
Photo time.
I feel really dumb but I also have been rewiring a bike for the last couple hours and laughfing at the stupid so I may be overthinking it.
