Hey all. My friends have an 87(ish) Volvo 240 sedan and the locks are acting up. The doors used to have to be locked in a specific pattern or they wouldn't stay locked. They also said that all the doors have just randomly locked while driving and have all unlocked when the car is parked. We have confirmed that the car is unlikely to be cursed or possessed. What should I check to fix this?
Potentially useful information: the trunk apparently does have a lot,of condensation in the truck. Trunk gasket is supposedly ok but taillights do leak.

The trunk would probably be the best place to start then. Moisture in the harness or lock actuators can make the lock system go wonky.
Next step would be to check the door harnesses for breaks and shorts, especially at the hinges.
My 240 sitting parked on the street with windows down and key in ignition unlocked. It looks like such a piece of junk I'm sure most people think it's non running. haha. It's nice to not think about locking stuff and keys

The relays (one for up, one for down) are hidden behind the coin tray, in case you want to find them. Easiest method to get at them is to remove the glovebox liner.
The two most common failures are broken wires at the door hinge on the drivers side, or the switch on the drivers inside lock rod. There are only two lock switches in a 240, one on the drivers door lock, the other on the pull rod. No other doors, including the trunk, have anything but an actuator. No remotes, nothing even remotely fancy.
