Appropriate that you photographed your new car at a gas pump, since you'll be spending a lot of time there.
I jest - that's a cool looking car. Yes, it's not exactly a killer autocross car, but I'm sure you'll have fun with it nonetheless.

Nicely done! I like the color and the plan. Oh, and, it's bigger than a P71 in every dimension (including weight) besides overall length. You're welcome.
Enjoy the ride though, it's a seriously cool cruiser.
Quite a plot twist, worthy of M. Night shamaladingdong.
Neat cars. I like the looks of the challengers.Very slick

Eh, not really, you can get 25mpg out of them, which is pretty impressive for a 4100 pound car with a V8.

THIS! IMS failure is only an issue you should concern yourself with on 96-00 era 986 and 996 models. Once the Boxster S came out, Porsche revamped all of it's M96 based engines to alleviate the issues. Even the pre-00 cars are only afflicted about 2% of the time. 2% engine failure rate is awfully high, but it's significantly lower than the world of the internet makes it out to be.
Honestly, I'm disappointed in your decision, but as you said, it's YOUR decision. (however wrong it may be.)

Any wagers he doesn't?
wait...you were scared of Pcar reliability, so you bought a ....Dodge? Huh. Okay.
I like the way they look, but I couldn't trust a Dodge. Hopefully you can prove me wrong. GREAT idea about the steelies, BTW. My dad had a '68 Superbee bought new and ran black steels with dog dish caps. It's a classic badass look.
Hey guy with excess money, In addition to purchasing a car, you opened a Roth IRA and are planning to max it out every year, right? Right?

Cast iron 5.7 v-8 that has been in trucks and jeeps for a while, 6 speed (tremec? literature says its from the viper...who knows) and suspension from mercedes e-class. I've grown up with and had broken mopars, but the big concerns for me seem to be sturdy or engineered at MB. Quality seems to be up a little over my dad's k-car wagon. (his first bought new car). We do still have my grandfathers 72 polara, first car he bought new (retirement present...)
I don't want to turn this thread into a dodge thread as there is so much useful info posted on the p-car, however I really like this car. I shouldn't, but I do.
Gas mileage for its first tank so far is about 18mpg, I'm trying real hard not to bounce it off the rev limiter until I get some miles on everything, bought it with 3 miles. Once I feel engine/rear diff is broken in I will probably have a tank in the single digits. Long term I hope it will do as well as the vette it replaced, solid mid 20's mpg on premium. Unfortunately cylinder deactivation is not available with the manual trans. I think I'm one of a very few who would put up with a little NVH to have that activated under light loads. I also hope "sprint booster" comes up with an improved version with an economy mode. Still hate e-throttles.....
It has the trac-pac, which got me the 3.91 rear (with a real limited slip), amazing the difference from the 'vette with a 3.70 something rear: 6th gear is way more useful. Those 20" wheels are silly, but it rides nice on them. The dodge has the same ratios as the vette had: 0.75 for fifth gear, 0.50 for sixth. double overdrive !
I didn't mean to insult the p71, I think they are sweet, I just wanted to relay this is more of a big people carrier/cruiser than a sports car. 2 tons is big. I knew this before the first test drive. However, comfort wise a 2 ton cruiser will always ride smoother than an 1800 lb miata. On the other hand, pushing said miata out of a ditch vs. this tank...
I'm sure this dodge has some dumb engineering things, but I don't know about them yet The "fix" on the IMS for the p-car engines was to put in a larger sealed bearing. Not quit a fix, more of a bandaid. And the re-designed ims bearing can not be removed without opening the engine block.... There are a small number of reported IMS bearing failures on the re-designs, much much lower than the initial carrera/boxter, but it is still there. P-service center 3 hour drive, Mopar garage 5 min drive..

LOL, I saved up for a roth IRA, that's where the cash to buy my 'vette came from.... What is the point of being comfortably retired if you live with regrets? All I have now is a 401b or whatever its called.
I sure threw some cash at the American economy. Happy Veterans day!

How do you figure? I could regularly touch 18 highway with a gasser 3/4 Ram, I figure that car could hit 25 easy, seeing as it weighs less and has more power.
Besides, don't they come with that cylinder deactivation nonsense?
I love the way those look. 'Specially in the orange. Now go watch Vanishing Point, and profit. Very cool car.
Since it's such a huge photo I'll leave it in link form, but it ties in with the box flare thread nicely.

Ive had my magnum for 2 years now and havent found any of those yet. As far as im concerned LX cars are pretty solid.
My biggest nitpicks have been drive-by-wire programming and auto trans shift programming. Yours isnt auto and you hope to improve the DBW stuff. So im tapped on problem areas. :p
