If it was never branded, then get it. No one needs to know it was stolen.
That story of domestic disagreement could happen to any car you have purchased in the past and didn't know about it.
Clean title is a clean title. If you trust it, go for it. The only reason I would have steered clear is the branded title, but since it doesn't have one...
There is the question, though, of why a dealer came into possession of a "stolen" vehicle. Did the domestic disagreement mean that one of the parties sold it to the dealer two days ago without the others' consent? Or was this disagreement a long time ago? What I'm getting at is, will they pull a John Welsh on you by googling who bought it and come seek retribution or steal it back? You never know the depths of crazy people will go to.
It would depend on the deal. Would have to be 50% of something that a little lady just drove to church and the liquor store, especially when its nothing uncommon.

It's on the CarFax. Car reported stolen in July, reported recovered the next day, sold at an auction a couple weeks later to the dealer selling it. I'm guessing insurance paid out right away and the owner didn't want it back. I don't know how the title stayed clean, but I suppose the dealer could be mistaken.

I thought you hated your Flex. Why would you buy another one?
exactly!
all this for a flex?
not a 10AE miata
or jensen
or something possibly more obscure and GRM?

I hated features of my 13 (post-facelift). All the stuff I hate isn't in the 09-12 models. All the stuff I like (size, drivetrain) is. Specifically the screens for the gauge cluster and capacitive touch sensor center stack were beyond stupid. The 12- has regular gauges and buttons.

If that's the case, I say do it. 99% of people have a problem with a branded title. I'm sure a much smaller percentage of buyers use carfax so you aren't limiting your resale pool by much if any.
I might also suspect (if it was a domestic dispute), it likely went something like this:
July 4th on a drunken rampage: "you asswipe, I hate your guts, I'm stealing your berkeleying car you piece of E36 M3, go to hell!" [insert catfight]
July 5th with a hangover: "I'm sorry honey, I love you. Officer, I'm dropping charges because she brought the car back."
Disagree with Curtis. Pretty much everyone looks at Carfax. No way I'd buy a car with a smirch recorded, particularly an easy to source consumer car...
The Flex was named for its chassis characteristics.....
I test drove one once, I hated it before I got it off the lot.
Buy it and then when it someday depreciates to be a $1000 car, several years from now, sell it to a GRMer for a cheap challenge boost wagon :D
Stolen one sold and not to me.
A bit off topic, but I've always figured, as long as the wheels are still pointed in the right direction, and there is no gravel.poured in the gas tank or engine, it's unlikely that a thief will drive my stuff harder than I do.
Foreign farts in my seats bother me more than mechanical stuff.
I actually HAD my Flex stolen.... didn't want it back, lol.

Just knock on all the doors to make sure SOMETHING YOU CAN SELL ON THE STREET FOR BIG BUCKS is stuffed in them and buy it at a huge discount.
FTFY.
Has anyone achieved max challenge recoup via selling drugs/weapons found in the car?
I know pimpm3 has found those things in at least one car, but I'm fairly sure his employer would be upset with him playing both sides.
