After driving our new to us re-powered TSX for a few days, want to to upgrade the stereo due to no BT or Aux input. The controls on the big Nav screen are clumsy & the Nav in general has so many levels of menus, heater controls are displayed on it & dated features that it's not really that useful. Can't imagine using it while driving. Also appears that the trunk mounted dvd is only for the Nav dvd? I tried to put a cd in it & it said invalid data. Anyway with the Stereo/Nav/Heater trinity so tied together how to upgrade this. I can do it all myself but was just curious what others have done.
On our daughters IS300 Nav, I did the Garmin swap, was great but was a stand alone system.
Look into the iDatalink Maestro RR. It will interface with a lot of cars' non-audio systems and if paired to the correct aftermarket head unit (lots of options from Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer) can control those other systems as well. Their website lets you plug in year/make/model and shows which head units are compatible.
Metra makes a dash kit (99-7809B) that moves all of the HVAC controls to a conventional button box.
Hm, only $200. That's p damn cool. I guess there's enough demand to justify tooling out for that.

I saw that Metra 99-7809B late last night. It says not compatible with Nav. I know the Nav will be removed to install this, is that why it's not compatible OR is it not compatible with a Nav equipped cars because the cables/connectors are different?
The Nav cars have the Ac On/Off & fan speed controls on the Nav display. The non-Nav cars have climate controls on with the stereo controls.
If it would work in a Nav car, I would get it. I guess getting it & starting the dis-assembly is the way to find out.
Call crutchfield. Its literally what they do.
My bet is that you are correct about the metra kit. But they will know for certain.
This is the main issue I had with these cars. I used to send 2-3 units out for repair a week and there was no real viable option for streaming audio. They had an ipod kit for about a year but it wasn't that good.

In reply to Dusterbd13-michael (Forum Supporter) : Good idea to call Crutchfield.

Their website says it works with the Nav autos. Reviews are all over the place but it allows a new deck to be installed.
