Someone commented that these are a known failure in these cars. I was doing an alignment on my car yesterday and found that there is excess play in the rear suspension. It appears that the problem is the bushings in the two locating arms that mount to the hub forward of the axle center of the hub.

My questions.

  • Are these somthing that requires frequent replacement and I should keep spars on the shelf?

  • Is there an upgraded part or bushing out there that fixes this permanently?

  • Anything else I need to know about replacing these? Or I it just a bolt on deal.

From what I remember, there is no upgraded bushings and all replacements are more or less the same. At the time it was also cheaper and easier to just replace the whole arm. I think I paid $100 for both. My originals lasted 100k. The replacements were on for maybe 65k. Then I sold the car so I can't comment if they held up just as long.
