Could some one fill me in on the differences between a D16Y7 and a D16Y8 other then the lack of VTEC in the Y7?
Slight compression difference.
Y7 is 9.4:1, Y8 is 9.6:1.
I believe there's some slight head differences, and recall reading that the Y7 head is actually slightly better.
That's preeeeeeeeeetty much it i think. Possibly better oil pump in the Y8, but that unit isn't much to write home about, either.
Part of the "allure" of the Y8 is that it comes mated to the better D-series tranmissions, but that's an easy fix.
