That was a cool video. I also like how the article explained about the Miata meme. I wonder how much it cost to do that electric conversion.
So... does the Miata have enough juice left in it to drive back down the return road under its own power, or is the range precisely 0.25 miles? :)
Cordrus... exactly. That's my biggest annoyance with how electric cars are marketed. They show the shiny happy parts then cut or edit out the other bits. Hard numbers? Facts? Cost? Did it have to cool off for 30 minutes before it could do another run? Proponents are blind to such details.

I think your complaint is poor journalism, not marketing.
A quick Google search reveals he has done at least 3 full-speed runs in one day, about a half hour apart each. Looks like he may charge between runs. The Miata runs a claimed 4500 ft-lbs of torque at the wheels.
This is a dedicated drag racer, and it sounds like it does the job quite well. He's broken 145 mph, and gotten into the 8's.
More sensationalist journalism, but it's a fun light hearted article; who cares.
What fun would the headline: "Drag prepped electric car beats street car, no one is surprised" be? :P
