How to relive the thrill of IMSA RS? How about with a car that actually competed in the series? That’s the story behind this AMC Spirit.

The seller restored the car to how it looked in 1979, and currently comes fitted with a 343 cubic-inch V8 that’s backed by a Borg Warner T-10 gearb…

I've seen a lot of AMC Spirits come across my cars for sale feeds. Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something. Love the iconic AMC motorsport colors.

A friend of ours raced one of those–heck, maybe that same car–and was once T-boned in a race.

He had the bashed-up door hanging in his office.

Kind of weird; early Pantera wheels, and an engine + trans combo last seen in the 1960's.

I've never done more than looked at these, and I think these look great.  Like a perfect size, styling seems pretty good, and it's another AMC built-from-corporate-Lego's product so swapping and upgrades are possible.  Seems like it should have been a bigger deal when they were being sold?

Pantera?!?  OMG, I think they are Campagnolo wheels!  Probably worth more than the car itself..

I miss AMC. I owned a Javelin and a Spirit at one time or another and liked both cars. They were solid and trouble free compared to many of the other 53 cars/trucks that I have owned in my lifetime. I always wanted an AMX but, alas, that never happened for one reason or another. They always seemed to be just a little above my financial comfort zone and that is still the case today.

I think it's the paint scheme that gets me. There is a Javelin vintage racer for sale at Classic Auto Mall that also made me glance at my bank account. I also like underdogs, so racing an AMC would be perfect. Blissfully, my current garage is full, killing real temptation.

Nice AMC.  Iconic coloring.

Smells like AMC Spirit?

AMC had a production facility in Kenosha, Wisconsin, home of The Brat Stop (look it up).  Every old AMC is from that area - where is this car at?

Waukesha, Wisconsin - how cliche.
