One of the fastest four-door sedans money could buy, circa early 1990s? The Dodge Spirit R/T. In Car and Driver’s testing, the 224-horsepower R/T delivered a zero-to-60 time faster than that of a Nissan 300ZX Turbo: 5.8 seconds.
That wasn’t enough for one owner, apparently, as this S…

My first car was a Plymouth Acclaim with the V6. It wasn't sexy by any means, but it was surprisingly fun on the Southern State and Belt parkways when there was no traffic.

Man, these things were bitchin'. Fastest mass-produced sedan at the time they were introduced.
These cars are easily in the top 10 of mass produced sleepers ever made.
Wow, sedan performance has come a long way in 30 years...hey wait a minute!

The contemporary road tests/comparos of these and the equivalent Daytona were always amusing. It would boil down to "Wow this car is fast! And it feels even faster because it's kinda still a K car underneath"
Dodge gonna Dodge
Boy that thing sure has an underbite, doesn't it?
I have never seen one of these in the wild. Only heard about them for the first time maybe 15 years ago, and wanted one ever since. I'm can't think of a better sleeper.
Cool car! But a k car was borderline terrifying with 100hp. 275hp would feel absolutely insane.
I had the steak down model with the Mits V6 I bought with 100k on the clock and a little blue smoke. It was a rattling crapcan but had the same wheels and suspension. Wasn't that fast but could go around the corner real well. Drove it for almost another 100,000 miles. It was crappy but turned into one of my all-time favorite cars. Would love to buy this one if I had 19 grand to sit on fire.

While my first car was a Plymouth Acclaim, my grandmother had a K car (a Plymouth Reliant). She blew by me on the road a couple of times, but perhaps it's more of a indicator of how I drive local roads .
That extra power on a fwd better have a lsd, if it's to be controllable on the roads
